    Re: Half and Half

Wouldn't the cafe keep your cream in their fridge for you? If you are a good regular customer and write your name on it or something? If we are talking about a small place, not too busy, I bet they would.

I don't think the point about the half and half is just about the carbs. It's about the lactose, which is milk sugar. Lactose is in the skim part of milk but not in pure cream or butter (made from cream) or in aged cheeses. I believe that is why we can have those products in induction and no milk until rung 2.

      >>Heavy cream has 1 carb, half/half has 2.>>

      Not quite true.

Heavy cream is 0.4125 net carbs per Tbs.

      Half and half is .65025

I wish they could but I work at Air Products and its a pretty big company and their cafe is for $1,000s of employees. But I wish that was an option. I will wait patiently for our department to fix the frig so I can bring my heavy cream in.

        Thanks for the advice!

Even better! I really think it doesn't matter, unless you are drinking a lot of it.

One of my favorites is the diet soda/cream treat from the book. Diet root beer, or Zero, with a shot of heavy cream, over ice--like a milk shake. I like it when I get home from work, it helps me hold out til dinner!

To Rosie's point above, it does matter if you want to follow the rules of induction properly (which say no milk). It's not all about the carb counts.
