Wouldn't the cafe keep your cream in their fridge for you? If you are a good regular customer and write your name on it or something? If we are talking about a small place, not too busy, I bet they would.
I don't think the point about the half and half is just about the carbs. It's about the lactose, which is milk sugar. Lactose is in the skim part of milk but not in pure cream or butter (made from cream) or in aged cheeses. I believe that is why we can have those products in induction and no milk until rung 2.
