  • 50-50-50 Club - Need Members!

Hello fellow ADBB members and future friends!

My name is Ron, and I'm over weight.

I have been on the front lines of Battle of the Bulge since age 20 at 179 pounds when the Air Force told me I was overweight and needed to lose 10% of my total body weight to be at my "ideal" weight. That was back in 1985 and in the last 24 years, I've managed to add on weight and now I am 257 pounds.

    Well, that's it~ I've had enough.

What I plan on doing is what I'm going to label as the 50-50-50 plan.
Step 1: 50 meals; focused on making it 1 meal at a time
Step 2: 50 days; focused on making it 1 day at a time
Step 3: 50 pounds; focused on making it 1 pound at a time

I figure a mason doesn't pull up to a job site and stand at the front of a 5,000 square foot building and go, "This'll take 30,000 bricks to do, I'll never get it done!" and walk away... No, he starts with brick #1 and he just keeps at it one brick at a time and then one day, before he knows it, he's putting in the last brick and then he's done.

Well that's the attitude I'm going to take; one brick at a time.
    I'm starting Monday, November 2nd, 2009.
    Brick #1, meal #1, day #1.

I WILL make it ~ 1 meal at a time and before I know it, I'll be at 50 meals. That's just 10 days into it! That's all! Then, I'll only be 40 days away from the next goal of 50 days. And before you know it, I'll reach THAT goal too. And by then, I'll be well on my way to my third goal of 50 pounds.

I'll be here every day getting to know all of you and leaning on you for support as well as being your support friend too.

If any of you would like to join me in this 50-50-50 journey, I'd love to have some company!

Let's do this; one brick at a time!

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions,

    Ron

    What a great analogy, Ron!!

Sometimes looking at the big picture is too overwhelming for us, so taking it step by step (or brick by brick) is the only way we can cope

I look forward to sharing your Atkins journey and seeing you work your way through each 50!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I'll join you! I was just thinking that part of my problem is that I'm not planning my meals with painstaking detail like I did in the beginning. I am up for a challenge to get through 50 meals with planning in advance and without making any bad choices. Starting Monday? I can do that! Good luck to you as you begin your journey. I haven't felt this good in YEARS. I've been on plan for 5 months and I'm looking forward to starting over in a sense and really looking at what I'm going to eat for 50 meals in a row!

I'm sick today, ugh. But forcing myself to get up and make some breakfast quiche for this coming week. My first 9 meals will be:

              Broccoli quiche
              tuna salad
pork ribs & Helen's potato salad (my boys love this--more than reg. potato salad)

              Broccoli quiche
              leftover pork ribs and salad
              Taco bake

              Broccoli quiche
              leftover Taco bake
              chicken salad

I don't mind having the same breakfast every day. I love to pre-make quiche because I'm always pressed for time in the morning and quiche is easy to heat and run out the door with. I'd love to see what others are planning for the first part of this week!

I'm looking forward to this challenge and have promised myself to stay on plan for 50 meals. I know that I can do that! Good luck to you too, Ron!

Okay, that chart is seriously cool! I was still under the weather yesterday, but managed to have 3 meals according to plan, so I'm well on my way. Because of my schedule, I only eat 3 times a day so it might take me a bit longer to fill my bricks for meals, but I'm up for the challenge. I'm a bit of a cheater at times when I eat, so this is a much needed reminder to eat according to plan 50 times in a row no excuses! THANKS!

barrnone - welcome aboard, there's 3 of us now. Congratulations on your success so far, and with your success, I'll probably need you to push me a time or two as I get this machine in motion with my new WOE.

happymom - I am only counting 3 meals a day for 3 bricks a day; I initially thought about including the 2 snacks for 5 bricks a day just to watch that first 50! fill up quickly - but if you want to go with just 3 a day - I'm cool with that and I've adjusted my bricks accordingly. Let me know which way you want to go and we'll get in sync.

Last night was TOUGH for night one! I wanted "bad" food just because I knew I couldn't have it! I persevered though and remained faithful. This morning on my way to work, I actually got excited and couldn't wait to get here and fill in my bricks to see my success and post it for all to see! I really need a tool like this - and to post it daily; it's kind of like living in a glass house and if I fail, ya'll are gonna see it so it hangs there in my head like a constant reminder and if I fail = no brick, which in turn means you all will know it and I'll feel like I have let you down and I just can't do that....

ONWARD! We have bricks to move!!!

So, just to get this straight, I create my own bricks [per se], and if I eat on plan for my 3 meals, I get to fill 3 bricks, correct? We're going for 50 [at a time].

how about 2 good meals and failed one meal - then do you fill 2 for the day ? We're just counting all meals that are on plan, we don't start over, correct?
