You would add up the total net carbs and then divide by the number of servings.
Thank you for responding back and for the help!

So I would weigh the entire chicken (including the bones?) as well as all the veggies I add and divide it by a serving?

Speaking of servings...what would be a serving for such a soup?

    Thanks again,

Well, chicken is 0 carb, so I'm not sure what weighing the chicken would do, but if that's what you wanted to do, then yes.

      >> Speaking of servings...what would be a serving for such a soup?>>

      That depends.

If you're having a bowl ... it might be 8 ounces ... or it might be more. Depends on how much of it you eat!

I plan to eat an oz of cheese yet and possibly a cup of tea with that.. I am in at 15.2 carbs on fitday so far. Please.. how do you get the right amount of cal's in when you don't like meat all that much? The meats that I do like to eat are all lean lower cal meats.. not bc i am trying to be low cal.. its just the only meats I can stand to eat regularily. gah.. I feel like if I don't get on track with a proper amount of cal's.. it will sabatage all my efforts
Are you including the calories from fat? Or perhaps you need more fat. Some examples are using mayonaise or hamburgers or chicken, making simple omelettes with eggs and cheese, ranch dressing with chicken wings, deviled eggs.

The feelings of fullness and hunger will ebb and flow changing week to week.

        Good luck to you, Amber!

k.. that would be total carbs.. if I subtract the dietary fibre.. I come up at 10.22 carbs for the day so far. It is just after 8pm here right now and I am not hungry whatsoever, but I plan on having my 1oz of cheese and some tea at 9 wether i am hungry or not.and good idea on the butter.. I'll have to melt a tbsp over my veggies from now on

About 1/2 of what you should be getting daily on Induction.

So for tomorrow you will know. Yes, I love melted butter on my veggies. It is a way to get enough fat.

Sorry, I have measuring on the brain...of course, you're correct...I wouldn't weigh the chicken

Thanks again for your help, it's very much appreciated.

As far as the calorie thing goes, are you losing weight? It seems to me, the only time you should worry about tweaking calories is if you are truly stalled. And even then, I would go by a weekly average rather than trying to make each day match a magic number.

You might need to add the butter to your veggies in order to keep your fats around 60%, though. You might also try adding a little olive oil to the soup if the broth is not fatty.

I lost in the first week and so far day 3 into my second week and have not lost anything.. I understand that it is too short a time to worry too much about.. but I can't help but be concerned with all that I have read about people not losing due to not eating enough.

I added a tbsp of sour cream to the broth to make it nice and creamy really was very yummy

don't worry about counting calories at this point, especially during induction. It's just something else to worry you.. With this plan you can eat up to 2000 calories and still lose. As you go up the OWL ladder your calories will naturally go down. Also when your in ketosis, you'll find yourself less and less hungry.

How did the soup turn out?
I made some cauliflower bisque last night that was soooo good, chicken broth, onions, celery, cauliflower, and then some cream.

                        41 pounds down and counting

My problem isn't having too many cal's.. i am worried about not having enough bc I am not very hungry..lol My soup turned out great
I boiled up the chicken for the stock.. then got what I could off of that for meat (was about 1tbsp lol.. cuz the chicken i bought was stuff for stock so was stripped of most of the meat..lol)
added some tenderloin.. and some cauliflower.. some salt and pepper and a poultry spice to taste.. then added a tbsp of sour cream to my bowl to make it creamer.. was super yummy and it made enough for suppers for the next couple of days

                              Have you checked your BMR?

                              BMR Formula

Eating 250 calories above that generally works.

Also, the "rule of thumb" about eating 10-12 times your current body weight works for many.

Undereating ... either in calories or net carbs ... is generally counter-productive on Atkins.

k.. if I did the calculation right.. if I eat 1606 cals it should be fine. (that is the bmr +the 250) that is much more doable than 2000 ! that means on average I only have to find 2 or 3 hundred more a day.. thanks J
