    Re: Weight Loss

And what does helping Janus with the diet have to do with "cheating" on Atkins (pasta would not be cheating from OWL Rung 9 on)?

      Re: Weight Loss

its fine- really you don't understand me and it is really fine- yes i do follow atkins and yes i do enjoy it- but it seems you dont understand that for me it has become a philosophy of removing guilt association with food- when I am my goal weight I will eat some foods I really like- no substitutes. Through Atkins I will have developed the discipline that this is a one day thing and enjoy it- no guilt. I don't want to hide behind a diet thinking that I have no self discipline or control of myself. I think so many people miss the point of the diet teaching self discipline and trusting yourself.

I am not talking about cheating while losing weight- i do not advocate any cheats- i am saying in life you want something without any restrictions and you need to trust in yourself- but it seems you don't understand and on this site are people who get off on being critical of others because they hide behind the reality that people are just human- yes atkins said one bite of something wrong on induction can lead to failure- and i believe this principle - but for all my life i know i can not or wont eat perfect- so why live all my life thinking i am a failure, when instead i can be more disciplined

            so in regards to janus

it seems he is doing the diet quite will and maybe needs some small adjustments and to me many people here on this website get off on the idea of being critical of others- well these people are or were fat too-- so why can't they understand that the bloke is doing it the best he can and following the labels the best he can-- if the diet becomes a chore or tedious he is more likely to quit- why would a person want to think about their diet 24/7-- O.C.D. maybe? i believe follow the rules and if it working for you who cares if your net carbs are off but 1 gram or so- does it really matter if it is working for that person? For the so called experts here - they get all their information from a book- a very simple book-- but at the same time we are all different and small tweaks may be needed-- one person can have aspartame and cheese while others can't for example... my point also is that induction was made by atkins to teach control and discipline and this is taught through following a precise regiment- but to worry about it too much is negative and will lead to failure in my opinion- just find what works, stick with it and be happy

                  Re: Weight Loss

Kline, I don't see anyone saying that Janus didn't do the best that he could.

The thread started with Janus asking for advice because he wrote he was not losing weight. The advice was given accordingly.

When someone is complaining about not losing, being careful to every detail can make a difference and is not nitpicking.

And just because some of the suggestions made did not coincide with Janus' opinion of what it would be good to change, it does not mean those suggestions were meant as pointless criticism.

why would a person want to think about their diet 24/7-- O.C.D. maybe? i believe follow the rules and if it working for you who cares if your net carbs are off but 1 gram or so- does it really matter if it is working for that person?
It's not OCD at all, in my opinion. All it takes to count carbohydrates correctly is using a good source to find nutritional values.

In any case, the issue of carbohydrates was clarified already. The quantity mentioned by Janus was wrong, which is why the count was off. Janus wrote:

"sorry your correct should have said 50 g pepper my mistake"

Rung 2 is more dairy. Soy milk is not a dairy product.

                      Hello Kline

                      Just a few things...

I think you are confusing criticize with critique. The mods critique the comments to improve what the op's are doing.

Criticize is to find fault. Critique is to evaluate.

I think you could have started your own thread, instead of here, because you leave the impression that one can never follow the plan 100% for a life time, and that they are not normal if they do.

One could take the other side and wonder why you believe that the best things in life are eating some of your favorite foods? ... and they might not agree with your way of thinking.

His diet was not going quite well, that is why he posted.
I hope with all the attention given to your post on this thread, that Janus and others didn't lose the impact of how moving to OWL 1 for me, may have contributed to my weight loss awakening again.

And the reality is...those who are actually losing the weight over time, are following the rules. They are not planning their next pasta meal.

                      Just my Opinion.
Good luck with your weight loss, and glad you have joined the

                        >>Atkinsgal.....why do you always find me?!>>

                        JaxMama,

I don't "always find you". I don't go looking for anyone ... I simply do "New Posts". I don't always pay attention to who the post is from either.

It seems you really only want advice that fits in with what you already believe though!
