  • Need Help With Induction

    Hey Everyone,

    I just finished my third week of induction and about to start my fourth. I am 6'4 and weighed around 306-307 pounds when I began my induction. I am down to 299-298 and was expecting to lose more weight than I have.

    For breakfast I eat an omelet 3 eggs, 2 ounces of cheese (cheddar or american) and around 4-6 peices of bacon. For lunch I will usually have cheese burgers, sausage, or chicken salad. For dinner i will always have my 3 cups of lettuce with chicken, steak or maybe fish or scallops.

    I will add sour cream to my chicken salad, and I use a sugar free salad dressing with 1 carb per serving. I have also eaten cream cheese during my 3 weeks. Are any of these foods against the induction rules?

    I was eating more than the recommended 4 ounces of cheese a day for the my first week of induction but have been consistent with eating only 20 grams of carbs and 4 ounces of cheese a day for the last 2 weeks.

    I was expecting to lose more weight. I was curious if I have been doing anything wrong. I was curious when I would know i am in the induction phase, so I could begin to add nuts and miracle noodles to my diet.

    I am just unsure if I have done my induction phase incorrectly and if i should continue with more strict eating habits. Basically I need help and would like to know when I could begin to add additional foods to my diet. Thanks

    Your meals look fine, and food choices pretty good.
    ? Sausage - can be filled with fillers/sugars etc. Are you checking out the labels carefully, not only the carb count but also the ingredients?
    Are you eating enough? Do you ever feel hunger?
    While lettuce is a veggie, its a rather poor choice as it have few redeeming qualities. I would be mixing up my veggies, getting a variety of both color and choices
    You can start going up the ladder right now. Induction is generally two weeks.
    Are you drinking your water?

      Hi there,

      How much water do you consume daily?

      3 c of lettuce---you need to vary your choices, and get more carbs from your veggies and better nutrition. 3 c of lettuce may be simple to do, but it is probably the least beneficial choices to make.

      Are you exercising?

      Are you using any food tracker such as Fitday.com--you need to see if you are eating enough food, and getting the proper fat, protein, and carbs. You do not have to count calories, but fitday will show your calories automatically as you enter the foods you are eating, and that way you can monitor that you are not eating too much or too little. You can eat until full, but there should be a reasonable range of your calories as well.

      Without knowing the actual amounts of what you are eating it is difficult to say why you are or are not losing X pounds.

        I have been drinking between 3-4 liters of water a day, I have not been exercising, besides snowboarding once a week. The sausages do not have any added sugar but they do have 3-4 carbs per link. Some are plain sweet sausage, some are chedder wurst with cheese inside of them.

          I have read the book. And no I do not exercise much. This may be a strange question, but did anyone have diarrhea during induction. For 3 weeks of induction, I have only had diarrhea. But i feel like I am not pooping enough for the amount of food I am eating and I feel bloated and backed up. Wierd combination and not sure what that means. Any suggestions?

              The sausages likely have sugars - did you see dextrose on the label. That is sugar.
              Hopefully no sauces or ketchup with the burger.

              You are not eating enough veggie carbs. Most of your carbs come from sugars, starches, dairy. Looks to be only a couple of net veggie carbs in your menu. This is against the rule. The rule states that most of your 20 carbs have to come from vegetables. So you need to find some more substantial veggies and cut down on the other carbs you are eating

                Also, it says during induction to only consume 3 cups of lettuce or 2 cups and 1 cup of veggies, besides onions n peppers in an omelete, or maybe a cup of spinnach with diner, any suggestions on how I can switch up the type of veggies I eat with my meals

                    No there is a good question.
                    It does not say to consume lettuce. It says to consume 2 cups from a long list of vegetables and lettuce in only one of them. If you do peppers, mushrooms, jicama, radishes you will get more veggie carbs. And then if you eat spaghetti squash or turnip or tomato or onion well you are right up there.
                    I make salads or I sautee veggetables. I love stir fried veggies with some olive oil. You can do cauliflower bake or soup that has a cauliflower base. There are many ways to do veggies well.

                      i use alot of salt...every time i make burgers, chicken, steak, chicken salad...i add salt to about any meat....that could be why i have diarrhea?

                        Read all of the links I sent you earlier---scroll above....there is some intense veggie info there...where it says "Veggie Info". Please read all of what I sent, even if you think you have seen some of it. There is a lot of helpful info. And it won't hurt to read it again... You are asking questions about things that are in these links, and if you read the book as you said, you should know some of these things. That's ok, ask, but read the tools provided to you.

                            Salt could cause some temporary water retention so try to think about it. Diarrhea is sometimes caused by changing the diet drastic but it should be temporary. Try to get some more fiber veggies in your food to get in some more good nutrition as well. And if you are having stomach issues keep drinking lots of water.

                            It is working - you just need to tweak it a bit.
