    Re: Question-I ate popcorn...

I cheated because it was Easter, and my little girl was cuddled up on my lap offering to share her popcorn. It was just one of those Mommy moments when you don't say no.

I have not shared many things with her over the last several months. I have even passed up her "but I made it just for you all by myself" goodies that she has offered. I always just tell her I can't have those things right now but when my body is strong and healthy (I don't mention loosing weight around the kids) I will be able to share some of those things with you. We are both happy with that answer.

Maybe it was emotional eating? I was in control, I didn't need it, I only ate it at the theater during the movie instead of finishing off the whole bag when I got home. I wasn't binging like I used to and I wasn't gorging myself past the point of stuffed. I didn't plan my cheat ahead of time or I would have had something better health wise, taste wise the popcorn was pretty yummy!

I am proud of myself for not giving up, for being able to share that moment with my daughter (we don't have a television and this was the first movie she has been too) and being able to realize it was a moment, just a moment in my life.

I kinda feel like...I passed a test, an inevitable test that was going to happen (cheating) and I did just what I was supposed to do. Knowing what I know doesn't make me feel like now I can cheat and not worry because I can handle it.

Outstanding explanation, although none was required.

As they say in the military "excrement occurs". As long as you realize that eating the popcorn was contrary to the Atkins plan, and you bounced right back into high gear, I wouldn't sweat it. Based on the writings of Dr. Atkins, plus watching him do interviews over the years, if you showed up at his office and said, "I faltered", I think he would have given a verbal hug, if not an actual one, and told you to rededicate yourself to the plan.

No harm, no foul, just a temporary breach of the human resolve...

      Happens all the time.

As far as moving on, you've done it. Let yourself forget the emotional baggage, remember what you've learned and keep marching forward.

Anything else "we" can help you with?

Thank you again. I printed out your marksmanship coaching and put it up on my bulletin board. Our family does a lot of shooting sports (hubbys a gunsmith) so the parallels made sense to me.

Popcorn, especially movie popcorn, has a lot of sodium. Unless you ate the super-duper- 50-gallon- drum size all by yourself, which would be an awful lot of carbs, you are likely just retaining some water.
An entire bag of microwave popcorn (they call it 3 servings, but it's really 2) after being popped has about 12 net carbs.

It was the super-duper big one but there were 5 of us eating it (well 3 of them were kids) and there was still half a bag left when the movie was over.

It would be great if it is all just water. It came on so fast I'm thinking it must be. I have an "official" weigh in on Saturday and was hoping to have lost 40lbs by then. So I'm gonna stick to the plan ramp up my cardio and see how I do. Keep your fingers crossed for me

I'll have to charge you a quarter every time you read it!

Glad it helps, The other "marksmanship" quote I give my shooters I stole from Mel Gibson in "The Patriot". It works for following Atkins as well, in more ways than one.

"Aim small, miss small" (Since I stole it you can use it for free!

Focus, determination, perseverance, a periodic pat on the back or a kick in the pants; mixed with little goals will, some time down the road, get you to that allusive maintenance goal.

Next time you can suck the butter and salt off the pocorn and then spit the soggy kernels out on unsuspecting patrons in the front row. Your kids will surely join in and never realize you're not consuming the carbs!

(Of course, I'm kidding. And on a side note, I think I'll sit in the back row from now on...)

                  Re: Question-I ate popcorn...

Butter yet, I mean better yet, just have them squirt the butter into a cup and skip the popcorn altogether.

Or, you can be like those pesky Butterton kids. They sneek snacks into the theater instead of buying their treats there. And... when they are done they leave all those nasty butter wrappers stuck to the bottoms of their seats!

Sorry about that, just finished half an avocado and I think I suffered from a FAT RUSH!

The "butter" at the theater isn't likely to actually be 100% butter.

It's the possible trans fats that would have me running. And that the popcorn was popped some time before this year.

The butter might be fake, but it tastes better than "I can't Believe It's Not Butter"!

In our small town theater, we watch them pop it as the orders are taken.

Every now ant then you need to say "at least"...

At least I'm on track NOW!
At least I didn't stray from the path too far!
At least I didn't put off starting the search for the new me for another week, month or year.
i don't think At least is the best example but rather other words like

                                thankfully im on track NOW!
                                i should stay on path
thankfully i did not put off starting the search for the new me for another week, month or year.

the word 'at least' used in these ways sounds more like excuses and there is more honor and responsibility packed into the words i should in these examples

at least i only ate half the cake (ya i did good i stoped at half!)
at least i only blew half the money at the casino (ya i was better than some loser who would have lost it all!)
at least i only drank 2 beers! (i could have easily drank 5! but i held back cause of my awesome will power!)

                                or

i should have not ate half that cake (i messed up i need to not let this happen again)
i should have not blew half the money at the casino (i messed up i need to not let this happen again)
i should have not drank 2 beers. (i messed up i need to work on improving my will power)

also not trying to be critical on you just pointing out that at least wasnt the best word choice xD
