    Re: No pain no gain?

Ahhhh.....Things have leveled out today and I feel better.

I need to start cooking my eggs in more fat. This morning I picked up eggs and sausage from mcdonalds to eat with my flax seed muffin and it is more filling than the eggs I make. I should be good for a few hours if not longer.

I've got tuna and chicken salad on the menu today with full fat mayo.

Unfortunetly all my veggie carbs are coming in this evening for dinner.

    Thanks for listening!

Which eggs did you get at McDonald's? It could have been more "filling" because they're not always "just" eggs. And the sausage ... well, I know you looked at the list of ingredients before hand.

        Re: No pain no gain?

I've gotten to the point that I NEVER eat sausage, unless I make it myself!

I used to work in a meat processing plant. What they use as binders for the meat and what they substitute as ingredients when they run out of what they usually use, leaves me with the knowledge that the ingredient list doesn't mean bupkiss! You just never know what you will get in a sausage!

          Re: No pain no gain?

I had looked at the ingredients myself way back in February and put the nutrition from the McDonalds website into Fitday. It's the second time I had eaten the big breakfast since starting this WOL. I give away my carbs of the biscuit, etc which is half the meal, LOL.
I hope the nutrition is accurate otherwise I will be a little upset.

I think it's more filling because it's more fatty. When I used to eat the low carb bowls from Krystals they would fill me almost all day because there was so much fat and grease in the bowl.

I don't cook my eggs at home in fat, although I am going to try it tomorrow and see what happens. But my fat content is steady 63%- 67% per fitday. Which I believe is the optimum level for induction. My carbs have been below 8% and the protein steadily in the 20% range.

On another note, I tried your recipe for Flax muffin, Atkinsgal, and it was way better than I expected. I ate it with 1/2 oz of cream cheese. Thanks for sharing it.

Sometimes, I go to McDs in the morning for breakfast. I order 2 eggs, 4 slices of bacon and 2 slices of cheese. They put it in the same container they put biscuits and gravy in. Costs less than asking for to Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuits (without the biscuits.)

Ohhh forbey, thank you for the idea. I paid $3.71 for 2 eggs and a sausage patty this morning. I would hope they would charge less a la carte.

Glad to be of assistance. All you can do is ask, worse thing they can say is "no". But the McDs next to my office always goes out of the way to make a sale.

So what does one do when they are on the run in the mornings and need to pick up food? Is there no fast food place we can eat at?

                      >>So what does one do when they are on the run in the mornings and need to pick up food?>>

One has prepared for that and has food ready. Make an egg casserole the night before. Have leftovers.

                      >>Is there no fast food place we can eat at?>>

The point of posting the ingredients is that you're not just eating "eggs". Just like you're not just eating "chicken".

Do I think fast food is a good choice? Not really. It's way too processed and full of stuff.

If I know I'm going to not have enough time for a "real breakfast", then I make something ahead of time. I can microwave and eat it in about the same time as I can order something at a fast food place.

One can also make sure one isn't "on the run" in the morning.

I make all my meals ahead but if I am travelling there are not a lot choices. That was the second time since starting I went to McDonalds. What does one do when travelling and has no access to a kitchen to prepare something.

                        Anyone, what did you do?

                          Re: No pain no gain?

I would find a better place than McDonald's!

Can you have a sit down breakfast someplace ... where the eggs are real?

Here's what I think ... sometimes you do have to make compromises. Maybe every once in a while eating at McDonald's for breakfast isn't awful. And yes, I've done it myself for breakfast once when I was traveling.

Now you have the knowledge of what it is you're actually eating, and having that knowledge is a good thing.

If someone is going every day, or even every week, thinking they're making a good choice, I would have to say they're not making a good Atkins choice.

And it would have been helpful in your previous post to have known that you weren't at home!

Oh no I was at home, I just chose to supplement my flax seed muffin. I appologize. I obviously don't go out to eat a lot. Actually, maybe 2-3x month.

But that got me thinking about traveling and so I asked it. And yes I understand there are sit down places but I heard they can have the same deal with the fake eggs.

I will look up Krystal's since they claim they have that low carb bowl.

Not if you get fried eggs! And you can ask to have your omelet or scrambled eggs made with "just eggs".

And it's not that McDonald's doesn't start with real eggs, it's what they do to it before they serve it to you.

Again, it's not just the carbs, it's the list of ingredients!
