In defense of the cheese dip, the swelling was more likely the result of all the sodium in the Tostitos! (Thee is considerable sodium, 340 mg per serving in the cheese, but there are a lot more in the chips.)

I was once told to NEVER eat anything that ended in "tos" ...
    Fritos, Doritos, Cheetos, Tostitos. etc.

Note: Let me make a correction of a previous entry of mine. Those 4 nasty carbs are "per serving". There are 8 servings per can, so don't eat the whole can in the same day! Either way you're gonna hafta count the carbs!

Mine is frittatas of all kinds. I always have eggs, cheeses and veggies on hand and so it's easy and fast to throw the stuff together in a pan...sauteed in butter of course.

I love the sauteed in butter addition!

If I could figure out a recipe to sautee butter in butter! I would patent it and retire comfortably in butter heaven!

          Y'all are making me hungry.
Emergency food: hot dogs split legthwise, with sharp cheddar in the split. Microwave for a minute, then add fresh salsa on top, or mustard. Accompany with green salad.

I am certain you are right... pregnant or not, even being a fat woman, I wouldn't eat so many chips if it weren't for that devil dip!

I've never thought about it on Atkins. OoooOOoo, I think I could get me into all kinds of trouble with it!

I have two: any egg dish (scrambled, omelet, quiche, etc.) and burgers. I buy ground beef in bulk, cut it up into one pound increments, wrap and freeze, and pull out a pound when I need a quick, easy meal.

And FWIW, I nearly posted this exact same question a few weeks back.

I love HOT WINGS!! Denny's makes the best Hot Wings & they keep the nutritional chart right there on the table. I don't remember what the count is, but it's not bad. I also keep some store bought in the freezer, but eat them sparingly cause the carb count is a little higher.

Every other week my husband goes to the Mexican market & gets "dos libras de Carnitas" (2 pounds of Carnitas), so every weekday for lunch I have a salad & carnitas! Yum!!

                      Great thread!
                      My 'go to meals' are:
-eggs (omlet +anything esp herbs, scrambled, hard boiled, soft boiled),
-sauteed vegetables w/ or w/out cheese, (melted or grated parmesan)
                      -tunafish +mayo + scallions
-crustless quiche > w/ any luck there's one in the freezer
-chicken cutlets + herbs sauteed in EVOO
-microwave 'white egg pizza' (m-wave 2 eggs + onion pwder +min amt of baking powder for ~2min, top w/ grated cheese then thinly sliced or chopped veggies > can be sauteed, but fresh tomatoes + scallions + basil work well)

Deviled eggs...I try to keep some in the fridge at all times because they taste better than regular boiled eggs and I can grab a few on the run and have them for breakfast or mid-afternoon snack at work.

Also I buy pre-made ground sirloin patties with cheese and poblano peppers. They cook in about 10 minutes on the Foreman grill. I usually serve with a salad or some seasoned greens. I keep homemade blue cheese and ranch dressing in the fridge for salads or dipping.

My absolute go-to meal is lemon pepper tuna and mayo...I probably eat it 4 times a week for lunch. There's a drive thru mexican restaurant near me and sometimes I get theie taco salad and use my own dressing.

What a great idea for a post! Some great ideas here. Does a taco salad have a taco in it or is it just the filling the fans are referring to?

My quick meal - a quickly thawed bag of salad shrimp - hmmmm - maybe 8 oz? - with mayo, radicchio, arugula, a few radishes and 1/2 a plum tomato. Chop the veggies in a mini-blender, mix and serve on a big romaine leaf.

I have a crispy taco bowl with my taco salad. I make it from my zucchini dough recipe.
