Hey Jimmie, i had the silver floss saurkraut for dinner, that was good, but i also noticed it had sugar after i ate it...i think it's added sugar....oops. some of those veggies look scary.
i checked my label on the silverfloss can and didn't see any sugar at all. it's just plain ol' sauerkraut. the did have another type also by silver floss that had added sugar.
that Kohlrabi is one thing i've never had before so it's my new veggie and also those 2 squashes. i've not had those particular kinds before.

It didn't occur to me that kraut could possibly have added sugar, so i didn't look, i will have to pay more attention to the lables next time. I just looked up chayote on the internet and looks like a good new veggie...i think i will use the kohlrabi in the soup i am going to make...will that be a good substitute for potatoes?

my mom makes her own kraut so i've always known to look for sugar. mom adds it to hers.
you can eat the chayote raw if you like a good crunch. i mostly cut it up in small pieces and fry them in butter, top them with a little cinnamon and a bit of splenda. they taste much like an apple fixed that way.
as far as the kohlrabi goes, i really don't have a clue. i have no idea what it tastes like, the texture or anything.
maybe somebody else will know, then we'll both learn something.

21 net carbs for me--spinach, green pepper, tomatoes, tomato juice, cucumber,
All very good and I'm plenty full tonight!
I'm going to try cauliflour as my new veggie. It's always scared me for some reason, but I found a recipe using cauliflour as hash browns, so I'm giving it a try tomorrow.

17 carbs for me on monday and I tried my spag squash for the first time... does anyone else think they're extremely tough to cut through? I had to leave mine out of the fridge for 2 days and still had to chop at it quite a bit??????????????

have you tried an electic knife? i'm not even sure if that would work but it just came to mind as i read that post. some of those squashes can be pretty tough to cut in half.

I never slice it till after it's cooked. You can just peirce it with a knife or I use and ice pick several times all over and then either drop it in a baking dish with about 1/2 cup of water or place it directly in the microwave and cook it. Afterwards when it's cooked and soft it slices right in half easily and then you scrape it out.
We'll have to pull out the electric carving knife for next time... with the amount of "spaghetti" it made me... goodness, I think I'll be eating spaghetti for weeks. Fortunately sopranos finale season comes out today... got my "pasta" ready just in time. He he he!
