      sal and company,
you guys can have fun deciding what veg is what in here, it's okay with me and i suspect it's okay with silly. there's no prize involved....sorry.... but just good veggie fun. when you're tired of guessing you can scope out the answers in the puzzle forum.

the whole point of this puzzle (as i tried to follow miss silly's request) was to give y'all some different veggies, perhaps some ideas on what you could look for as far as a new veggie was concerned.

hint for number 3: silly tried them just recently and she used them in her soup.

            Hey, Silly!

I will be back later to post totals, but I just had to stop by and tell you that I tried a new veggie today for lunch. (one that I never thought I would like in a million years, too!)

During the last veggie challenge, you posted this in my journal when I asked about brussel sprouts:

"Mitzi, I love brussel sprouts. Used to hate 'em. You will learn that I roast just about everything. Anyway, cut the icky ends off, cut them in 1/2 toss with a little olive oil, salt/pepper and roast at 400% shaking pan every now and then. This method is GREAT with cauliflower too! For a real treat if I feel ambitious, I separate all of the brussel leaves and roast the same way, only for a shorter amount of time. They get crispy and yummy!"

Well, I never got around to trying them, then... but today, I separated the leaves and roasted them. OMG! They were amazing.

How funny is that! I'm so glad you liked them. Did the family like them as well? You can roast any veggie and it will be delicious! Veggies are fun, right? You should try roasted rutabaga (starchy veg, I think). Sooooo good. And I think Jimmie makes faux potato salad out of them, do you Jimmie?

                Michelle:
I have an eggplant in my fridge too. Can you guess how i'm going to prepare it, LOL! How are you going to prepare your spaghetti squash?

Here's the new veggie I'm trying. It's some kind of baby broccoli. I was going to try broccoli-rabe, but they only had this. It sounds like a cross between asparagus and broccoli? I'm making it tonight with some salmon that a friend of the family caught in Alaska.

I love this challenge! The red bell peppers will now be a perminent (sp) staple in my home. Yesterday I went to the market and just bought vegetables. I bought speghetti squash, brocolli, avocado, zuchinni, artichokes, cauliflower, and lettuce to add to the vegies I have in the fridge. That should hold me for a while. MITZIE- I love brussel sprouts, they're yummy. I posted a recipe for nutty brussel sprouts in the side dish thread if you're interested. SILLY- That salmon sure sounds good with your veggie. Let me know how the Asparation taste. I bet it'll be good. Tonite I'm having Alaska Cod, havn't a clue who caught it though Silly. Hehe, probably one of those Hot Alaska Fishermen. Anywho, I'll be having the artichoke with that tonite with salad. I'll be back later with the numbers. Hugs to all!
