    HAVE YOU BEEN EATING YOUR VEGGIES?




    VEGGIE CHALLENGERS UNITE!!!!
    THIS IS ANOTHER BOARDWIDE CHALLENGE!


    This challenge is for any Member of the ADBB, from Induction to Maintenance. The purpose is get us out of our habit of depending on our great cheeses and hamburgers, the added grains and dairy, and start being more diligent about adding those all important, vitamin fortified, vegatables!


    THIS IS A 5 DAY CHALLENGE
    MAY 12 THRU MAY 16


    Here are the particulars:
    First, you have to sign up in this thread! You must state what rung/phase you are on: Induction, OWL or Maintenance. You must be willing to chart your veggie NET carbs for the 5 days of the challenge, and report them daily. Also, you are to try a new veggie that you have never eaten before. Sign up will start on Monday, May 5th and run through Sunday, May 11th. NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO SIGN UP AFTER SUNDAY, MAY 11TH! This award is earned by meeting your minimum EACH DAY, so you will not be able to join late.

    If you are doing Induction, your challenge is to eat a minimum of 12 NET carbs of veggies each day during the challenge.
    If you are in any phase of OWL, your challenge is to eat a minimum of 17 NET carbs of veggies each day during the challenge.
    If you are on Maintenance, your challenge is to eat a minimum of 22 NET carbs of veggies each day during the challenge.

    Feel free to post the veggie pushing old man graphic in your signature to signify that you are a Veggie Challenger. After you've completed your veggie eating ways, with success, you'll be able to trade the old guy for a really cool award - a head of cauliflower!
    WHAT A DEAL!

    Now, here's some helpful hints:
    • If you are tracking your foods already in a fitday or similar type of program, keep that up and pay particular attention to how many NET carbs of veggies you are getting. If you don't have an account, YOU CAN SET ONE UP or make sure to log on a piece of paper or in your ADBB JOURNAL STATS journal the amount of veggie NET carbs you are eating. Whichever way you choose to keep track, please make sure to use this thread on a daily basis to report your total veggie NET carbs for the day.
    • Don't wait till the end of day and try to hit the mark in all one sitting. Spread those veggie carbs throughout the day.
    • The following links will help you with the numbers.
    You can also find the Induction list of vegatables on
    page 125 and 126 of the DANDR.
    • For those of you who are already great at getting in your veggies, and don't think that there any veggies you haven't tried yet, try to come up with a new way to have a tried and true favorite... get creative!

    Well, I'm the worst at keeping up with my veggies since I HATE HATE HATE them! I do know that they are nessecary soooooo I'm going to join this challenge and attempt to win it! It's going to be hard, I'm not gonna lie.

    It starts May 12th? Hope so cause that's payday week and I'll be able to buy fresh veggies, ew.... haha.

    Oh yeah, I'm on Induction so I will be consuming 12 Net Carbs of veggies a day.

      Yep, starts on May 12th. If you hate veggies, this is the perfect place for you. That's the way I was when I went into the first Veggie Challenge (this is the 3rd one). Once I opened my mind and decided to embrace veggies rather than fight them, this WOE became easier for me. I sincerely believe that it was a pivotal point in my journey, and now I have confidence that I can do this forever.

                      I am on induction and may 12 will be my last day of induction !!!
                      so i am glad to join this challenge and make sure i dont go crazy as soon as Induction is over !

                          Yea Veggies! We just ate dinner at a Chinese restaurant last night and I went to the grill- I had a 1/2 plate of veggies (bok choy, onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, and a few snow peas) and 1/2 plate of chicken. He grilled it without sugar - just garlic & oil, and hot sauce- YUMMY! I'm back on Atkins (by my doctors orders) after a 8 years off and it was nice to eat out and not be depressed.

                          A good easy way to get Veggies without cooking!:
                          Buy BrocoSlaw and chop to smaller pieces. Add 1 tablespoon mayonaise and 1 tsp your choice of spices (I used curry poweder). Make rollups using sliced turkey or chicken. High in Vitamin A & C.

                              I'm in ............. I may need some help finding a veggie I hadn't tried ........ I wish I had held off my avacado ( never mind thats a fruit right?) oh well I"m sure there are zillions I have not tried ......... I will still be on induction for the challenge .........
