    Does the concentration of your medications increase as you lose weight? I understand the need to monitor bp meds and diabetes meds but what about thyroid meds?

        3. Read chapter 10 and answer the following question. In relationship to doing Atkins, when are you suppose to start exercising ?
        48 hours after starting induction - p.103, second paragraph

        4. Not actually stated but referrenced in chapter 10, what are the 3 particular points of the Atkins Triad aka: the "three legged stool"? Which of these 3 key points gives you the most 'problem' and why? Atkins Nutritional Approach, vitanutrients and exercise.

        Exercise is the hardest for me because I have a five year old and a three year old and my three year old has poor receptive language, which means I have to be dealing with him all the time. I can't go on a walk with him and my DD alone without dragging him away from the street the entire time. I am dealing with little children 24 hours a day.

        5. Concerning "Convenience Foods", particularly the Atkins bars and shakes, what does the book say. What has been the experience for most ADBB members concerning "convenience foods"?

        "You'll want to stock up on the wide variety of controlled carbohydrate foods available..." (p.100)

        My understanding is that a lot of people stall on these and they are not a good idea during the earlier phases of Atkins.

          eeks... your page 103 is different than mine. my 103 is Falacy #11 and #12, part of #13.

          the good thing here is that all of us can support the fact the exercise should start the within days of starting induction and not after a 50 pound loss or maybe never starting at all. i've seen both.

                i have the 2002 edition but some time ago, the mods were comparing covers for that edition and we had no less than 3 different covers. your cover is very close to the cover for the book on tape.



                i guess when we're posting page numbers, we might have to state the heading it's under, too.

                  todays assignment is basically putting your nose in the book. you've got a couple days to finish this since you'll be reading chapter 10. no assignment will be posted on tuesday.

                  Assigment week one continued:
                  3. Read chapter 10 and answer the following question. In relationship to doing Atkins, when are you suppose to start exercising ? 48 hours after starting the Atkins WOE. I think Dr. A's intention was to give us a break during Induction flu.
                  4. Not actually stated but referrenced in chapter 10, what are the 3 particular points of the Atkins Triad aka: the "three legged stool"? Which of these 3 key points gives you the most 'problem' and why? Atkins Nutritional Approach, vitanutrients & exercise. My biggest issuse is the exercise piece & I know that has really delayed my progress in the weight loss. So what is my issue~~~joint pain, previous knee surgery, extrememy physically demanding profession & of course being lazy. There are many forms of exercise that I could be doing but~~~. I could get up at 5am & exercise before work but~~~. I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS!
                  5. Concerning "Convenience Foods", particularly the Atkins bars and shakes, what does the book say. What has been the experience for most ADBB members concerning "convenience foods"? "Some controlled carb food products can come in handy when you are unable to find appropriate food, can't take time for a meal or need a quick snack. I think a majority of ADBB members avoid these "frankenfoods". I have used them in the past & found them to be stallers.

                    Third day in (or perhaps as soon as induction flue is over which for me was day 4). Did I start exercising day 4?? NOOO I needed some more pushing.

                    Eating right, taking vitamins and exercising (mentioned in chapter 22). My biggest problem now would be eating right. More rules and things to worry about. The exercise and vitamins part is more straight forward.

                    5. Concerning "Convenience Foods", particularly the Atkins bars and shakes, what does the book say. What has been the experience for most ADBB members concerning "convenience foods"?
                    Think I am failing this one. Could not find anything about convenience food in the chapter.

                    As for ADBB I think most people here are not using bars and shakes or only using them for emergency. Most people here do not recommend eating them as they contain ingredients not allowed in induction

                      liv, you didn't fail anything. your disorganized leader got that one of place. we addressed it a page or two ago. when you read chapter 11 [tomorrow's assignmnet] you'll see what is said about convenience foods. some posted because they recalled from previous readings. you still get a A+.

                        Note to self read the previous posts. I do read. Interesting to see what people find but I did not want to cheat.

                        I bought two Atkins bars last November when I started. One I ate in December when I was at an out of town soccer tournament and things got very hectic and everyone did fast foods. The other has travelled with me to all the nabouring provinces here. It came with me on my summer holidays and I took it to Norway last spring and back again. Still have it.

That reminds me of the old joke about there only actually being one fruitcake in the world ... it just keeps getting passed around globally because no one wants to eat it. Maybe there's only one Atkins bar, too! In which case, don't hog it ... volley it over to the next unlucky Atkineer!

                                liv, that is too funny! it's like the atkins bar is seeing the world! i am imagining stickers being put on the wrapper like you would a suitcase.
