          Re: Mid-Year Resolution Challenge

Hello, guys! I'm so excited to see you're checking in here on the weekend, too! I want this challenge to be everything it can be. It's no picnic shooting for a New Year's goal.

My goal is that none of us give in to apathy OR the holidays!

We'll be discussing holiday planning, recipes, and strategies to get all of us through these holidays with flying colors!

I'm going to do what I can to make sure we all get through this challenge together, starting with the Labor Day barbecues this weekend! At the same time, we all play a part, and it is never out of line for you to throw ideas, thoughts, strategies and tips into the mix!

We can all learn from each other!

If you want to discuss Labor Day strategies, jump in and give your thoughts and opinions, startegies, tips for success, recipes, you name it!

We are upbeat, and we're beating back the pounds!

Luckily, barbecues are very Labor-Day friendly, especially when we can see what's being grilled on the barbecue!

Ah, those grills are being fired up for the Labor Day barbecues and parties all over America.

Still, just because the parties are going on doesn't mean those pounds don't have to come on with it!

Here are some strategies to get you through this first holiday of many more to come. Please feel free to add more, stories, experience, anything that will help all of us at ADBB get through this first of the 'fall' holidays!

          Tips for Labor Day Success

Make sure your meat isn't being marinated before it hits the grill!

Don't be afraid to ask what's in something! It isn't rude of you at all. What looks like a plain hamburger could have Lipton Onion soup mix in it!

Instead of potatoes on the shishkebabs, go for green peppers, red bell peppers, jalapenos, and tomato.

Keep hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen this holiday weekend! Water not only keeps your skin hydrated, it keeps you less hungry and healthy!

Watch tuna salads and other deli-prepared foods. Many of them have hidden sugars.

Don't be afraid to say, "NO!" Many people tell me, "You can have THIS! It's low-calorie!" I just tell them my doctor says I can't have it. My Dr is Dr Atkins!

Plan AHEAD what your strategies will be, and put the emphasis on exercise and activity, friends and fun! Food is nourishment-- not the holiday itself!

If you are at a party, set up the croquet set and challenge friends to a game! It keeps you away from the food, and gets others moving, too! (Plus you'll get some of your exercise in for the day!)

Take food you know you CAN have. You'll be surprised how many dig right in and would never know you're following a low-carb lifestyle.

Keep copies of Tammy's "induction list" with you. It's pocket-sized and can be printed out and kept with you at all times! This acts as a reminder for a last-minute "can I have this"... especially as far as potatoes and corn are concerned (back away from them!)

2big has said this time and again, and it's something that has stuck with me: Holidays are about the people you're with and not the food.

How many times does our focus become what we're eating and not who we're spending time with? Don't relegate this holiday season to one of food amnesia and tripple helpings of Auntie Mahetabel's fudge cake supreme!

Don't hurt your body by taking recerational drugs in the form of food this holiday season!

Keep your senses clear, your body clean, and your hips thinner this Labor Day Weekend!

OOPS! Sorry for yelling out the last bit of the post. *LOL* I can't fix the font size for some reason (could be because I'm a dork)!

{{{womanpraised}}} I hear you! I'm beating the pucky out of myself right now for being heavier than I ought to be. I SHOULD be in those 170's with you! Had I done this the right way, I'd be there by now. I'd be where some of our more prestigious and successful ADBB dieters have been. And I'm not! I plan to change that this year! We'll all be successes! I will add your totals to the update, and just update when you can, ok? But stay with us always!

{{{Lisa}}} You are such a beautifuyl woman! When I see your smile I smile, too! I am so glad you are a part of this challenge! I can't wait to see you in your New Year's Eve outfit!

                Hey, LOTS2LOSE...

                or should I say

                BIRTHDAY GIRL!

I'm so glad you're back in the swing of things again! It is so good to have you back! Please stick with us and let us know how we can help you! We're in this for each other and for the long haul!

wannabe! You are such a tart! You need a swat to the fanny, girl! *smack* We're going to start dealing with Halloween next week! The aisles are ALREADY filled with Halloween candy, so we're going to start planning our strategies NOW!

(I made you hot pink, because we hot girls can do anything, right Barbie?)

OK Cleochatra, sign me up too! This is my first challenge I have done, so I want to make it! I would love to get out of the 200's, but realistically losing almost 40 pounds in 4 months may not happen for me. Sign me up for 22 pounds gone @215 (for a total gone of 40 pounds since I started) and I will be a happy! We can do it! Does this start today?

If you exercise, remain strict on this way of eating and follow the Atkins DANDR, you will definitely make goal by December 31!

We're working on getting through these holidays in one piece!

Again, welcome to the challenge, dyna!
