Atkins is not a 'diet'.
This, my friends, is a way of life.
I keep reading that people need motivation to keep going on this diet. That this diet is a means to an end, and not the end itself. Dieticians refer to this as a diet.
I hate to say it, but a way of eating is a way of eating for life.
You don't stop breathing air when you decide you don't feel motivated; neither can you stop eating. Still, what you put into your body not only regulates how you feel, but it also affects your body's functions.
You slow down with the weight loss and it bothers you. That's ok. This way of eating is for life! You have another 50+ years to live. What's 2 years losing the weight? Maintenance is the rest of your life.
You want to lose 30 pounds by this date or you'll just give up. Give up what? Feeling good? Having a lower blood pressure? Being off of your acid reflux medications? Being able to manage your cholestrol?
Come on. You have wonky blood sugar and you were not meant to conume in excess of 200 pounds of sugar annually. Admit it. You crave food when you eat a substantial amount (or maybe even a small amount) of carbohydrates. This isn't psychological. This is physiological. Physically, your blood sugar spikes and plummets like the tides. It happened 10 years ago. It's happening now. 20 years from now it'll still be happening.
You don't stop treating an illness or an ailment. Your blood sugar is in need of constant treatment. This way of eating is that treatment.
You feel better. You sleep better. Your doctor scratches his head, but he knows this is working for you.
Why would you quit that?
This is not a diet.
If you want a crash diet, there are easier ways to go about losing weight than eating healthfully and being full. This is a way you eat for life. Dr Atkins lived this way of eating. Many of us live this way of eating. It's a way of eating. It's something you will carry on for life because it works.
If you stop a way of life... what then? You get what you always got. Why not strive to make these changes for life? A bus is something you get on and off of. Cutting out processed foods and sugars is natural. It's only natural. And we're all about doing this for life. We want you around for a long time.
Make the effort and you'll be rewarded for it. Hop on and off, and you're on the fast-track transit lane to yo-yo obesity, doctor visits, and bad expando pants.
Let's pull together and make this a great week!
