  • Re: Easter challenge?

Oh gosh, no cream and no cheese would push me over the edge. Just don't beat yourself up if you "slip" and eat some! They are induction friendly!! But I know there are some foods that, even though they're legal, make it hard to control quantity. At a certain point calories start to matter. I'll be rooting for you!

I have some crunches to do and dinner to cook. It was a good day, foodwise, so far but I have to figure out dinner. Maybe something will come to me while I'm doing the crunches!

Dinner ended up being meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for everyone but me - I had saute'd spinach with some "healthy" sausage in it. The lower the fat and sodium the higher the carbs and nastier the flavor. There were 2 carbs per link - I had two. The scale is holding steady today. Starting out ok today............

Hope you all have a great day!

Well, I tried the Wooshie Pie last night. I will have to let you all know if it worked for me. I like Horseradish, so I thought it tasted pretty good. Though next time, I am definately adding more in to the mixture (I already doubled it to 4 teaspoons).

I am still lagging behind in the exercise, but I was 'training' this week and had to be on-line the last three days all day. (I usually only work one day - wednesday). Excuses though, because I did not get on the treadmill on Monday and nothing was stopping me! Besides plain lazy!

Today it is roasted chicken and I am trying mashed turnips. I hope they turn out good.

        Hope everyone is doing good!

At one point I knew what Whooshie Pies were but I've forgotten. Can you refresh my memory??? And I really want to know if it works!
I love turnips - the only one in the family so I don't eat it often - especially when simmered in chicken broth. I leave it in chunks though rather than mashing it.
Today is going well. I'm timing the cookies coming out of the oven as I have to leave the house so I can't be tempted by them. The kids will come home before me and eat all of them!

          Stay strong!!!

Hope this works, here is one link for the Wooshie Pie (where I first read about it). There are two links in here, which link to two different recipes. I tried the original and it was pretty good; however, I checked the scale and no movement there. But I still liked it... oh, and also I am probably holding water. (I used yellow mustard to dip it in.)

            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...hlight=Wooshie

The mashed turnips turned out okay; however, my hand mixer is broke, so I used my food processor mixer and they were pretty lumpy. I will try again soon. Have you tried the recipe for "scalloped Turnips"? They are fantastic IMO. Link: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=23829

I never used to make turnips. I can remember my Grandfather used to cook them alongside a beef roast (as well as parsnips).

Haven't heard from a lot of you lately. Hope you are all doing well!

            Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm going to give it a try as I have all ingredients in the house - tomorrow though. Friday in Lent you know... no meat!
I printed out the scalloped turnip recipe. It sounds wonderful!

Don't I know that Friday is Lent! I am actually on here right now searching for a coctail sauce recipe that I found a week or so ago... cannot find it. We are not 'big' fish eaters here either. Every other year, I made homemade pizza every Friday. Actually, I just got done making the dough for the girls... but we are having fish. DH asks everytime for the coctail sauce.... Well, better keep searching.

Got the flu. No food is as effective as a wooshie pie maybe. I'll check in later.

Ugh. I think I slept away 20 of the last 24 hours. Just couldn't lay down anymore. But I don't feel like I've been hit by a truck and it's heaven to not feel nauseous. I'll try some tea for breakfast and see how it goes. Unfortunately I've aquired lower GI crud to go along with the upper so I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
I DID lose 5 pounds but I'll give it a day or two of feeling good again before I post it in my signature. Not quite ready to count it as "real".
Is it just you and I in this challenge now???? I haven't seen anyone in quite a while!

                        Hi Teri.
Hope you are feeling even better this afternoon. My husband had the flu a number of years ago and lost 8 lbs and kept them off and lost a bunch after that (ofcourse, until I got pregnant and we both gained). I'll keep my fingers crossed that you keep them off and that you feel 100% by tomorrow!

About the others: I've noticed it too. Hi everyone . We are missing you! Hope you all have just been too busy to post. We would love to hear from everyone!

I'm up to 30 minutes on my feet before I need a nap. I hate this. Too many things have not gotten done and I have to work tomorrow and and and... sigh.
If I can get my dd to swim practice in the morning and not feel like I'm dying I'll go to work. Anything beyond that I can't even think about.

OK, where is everyone??? LoriAnn and I can hear our echoes!!!!

I'm feeling almost good again - certainly have caught up on all my sleep. Had I gone to work today I might not be saying that. Food is an issue - can't eat much and protein isn't even in the picture. I did have some toast but still have lost 7 pounds. Once I have a full day of real food I'll check in with the scale again and take the loss as real. Heck of a way to lose it. Water goes down ok so I'll stick with that for the rest of the day!

I'm sorry not to see everyone who signed up initially. It's a rocky road but the challenge really helps. No sooner did I start but I gained ten pounds. BUT.... I've since lost 5, maybe seven more, and am motivated to continue that. Maybe I'll actually hit that Easter goal of 20 pounds. Gonna try..........

Happy to hear you are feeling better Teri.

I weighed in Sunday (forgot to post it), I lost .8 lbs . I was happy with the loss considering I had the homemade ice cream on Friday and saturday. I started strict induction with no cheese/cream yesterday. Yesterday went pretty well, except I made a dish with Parmesan (sp?) and was going to pull mine out, before I put the cheese in, but forgot. I remembered before I added it all, but I know there was a little in what I ate (tasted good too). The hardest part, is I like to make the mock danish for breakfast. I figured I wanted to see if I could increase what I am losing though by staying away. What is two weeks!?! Right?!

Think we should PM all the others to invite them back? See how they are doing? As far as the challenge, I have pretty much realized that I am most likely not going to make most of my goals (since most are interelated), Not that I am not still trying my hardest to make the goals. I figure, I will keep trying and be happy with the results.

Congrats on the loss! Your strict induction is too strict for me! I hope it works for you. What is this mock danish though? An Atkins friendly danish? Even if it's not, if it's easy and my family likes it that would be great. Will you share?????

I'm headed for bed. Not much energy still and the alarm goes off at 3am. I did eat real food today - when I got home from work because I wasn't sure how it would sit. Made baked chicken and broccoli with pasta added for the rest of the family. It's not come back on me but I should maybe have skipped the broccoli.... I'm hoping for a good nights sleep and whatever loss the scale shows tomorrow I will take as real and reset my stats. Not all goals will be met but it would be worse without this challenge!

PM'ing everyone would take a good chunk of time. They know where we are. Wish they were here too though!
