I have actually poured cereal for the kids and not even thought about it! Not what would it have tasted like, not how it smells, nada. It wasn't until I was on the boards that I realized I had done a no-brainer. Thanks Joan, because I was really making a huge conscious decision all the time, and this thread kept me honest.

Okay so I asked to participate and where have I been,....? Well I am doing better on the measuring portions. I am trying to convert somewhat from induction to OWL but so nervous I get stuck kind of in between. I have been trying to measure everything and not just eyeball. Need to work on picking before food is actually on my plate though. I only pic from my designated portion, but I think I'd eat less if I saw it piled on the plate and had alot to indulge in. When I pick i don't even realize what is going in part of the bad habit that got me here in the first place. As for laying off the cream, gone not keeping it in the house. If I can't be good then I've placed myself on restriction. Maybe not having it for an everyday occurance will break the obsession.

I just woke up (running late this morning - should have been up and doing my Boot Camp stuff an hour ago! Ugh)...and I read the above quickly and thought it said, "I have actually poured cereal OVER the kids and not even thought about it!" My reaction - "Cool, my kind of mothering! Wonder what the kids did." LOL! Glad I re-read it.Originally posted by sillyannI have actually poured cereal for the kids and not even thought about it!
Good job, sillyann!!!!
I'll be back later today to get caught up on what everyone IS and ISN'T doing! I'm happy to say I've lost 11 lbs and 13 inches(!) between this challenge and the CC Exercise challenge!! After a very very slow rate of loss and a 6-8 week long stall, that makes me :icondance :icondance :icondance .
Talk to everyone later!!! If you haven't posted an update in the past 3 days, please post one so I don't have to hound you later today!!!! You, too, Doitnow!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, everyone!!
I asked Bren to move our thread to the Challenge forum -- Thanks Bren!!
I didn't want to restrict the Challenge to Century Club folks -- I know others struggle with the same things we do! So if anyone NEW wants to join, sign up! Just tell us what your personal challenge is -- do you need to drink more water? exercise more? count your carbs better? use fitday consistently? Whatever it is, just state it here, and then report in every 3 days and tell us how you're doing! No weight reports or measurement reports needed. All we ask for is honesty!
So what do you say -- time to KICK IT UP A NOTCH??

I would love to join this one. My goal is to:
1. do Fitday consistently
2. drink 2 liters of water per day.
3. this is the hardest of them all....measure my veggies. I measure my meat religiously but when it comes to veggies, I do the old eyeball thing...I think that is because this has been the hardest thing to give up on this WOE...I LOVE VEGGIES especially during the summer cause the DH grows them all in the garden and they are soooooooooooo yummy.5'3" SW-141 CW-127 GW-hold below 125

Have you gotten through your two weeks clean induction yet? The reason I ask -- I had the exact same problem as you -- a garden full of wonderful fresh veggies that were calling my name. I had been on Induction for several months, so I decided to move up to Rung 1 of OWL -- 5 extra carbs of veggies per day! You still have to stick to the Veggies from the Acceptable Foods List, but it does give you room to eat more. Some days I do, some days I don't -- and I always have to watch myself with those yummy fresh tomatoes. As soon as I switched to more veggies, I dropped a few quick pounds, too! And because you move up 1 rung, doesn't mean you have to keep going -- you can stay right there as long as you continue to lose weight.
Just a thought!

Hey Joan,
Thanks for your speedy reply...
Yes I did the Induction back a few months ago. I am limping along trying to drop some more weight but with great difficulty. Since I started I have only dropped 7 pounds but I have dropped a full pant size and my legs, according to DH, look mighty fine. I have been in the WEC challenges and that has motivated me to exercise religiously. What I need now is to be motivated to monitor my food intake just as religiously.
Re: going into level 1 of OWL....
I found that I had no choice. I just could not do the 20 or less carbs a day without going nuts at night with uncontrollable CRAVINGS!!!
It took me quite a while to figure out that I had to balance my food intake so that I could eat about 30 carbs and stay within 1300 calories to continue to lose weight SLOWLY. Its frustrating, but that is the way my body responds and that is what I must do.
Being in this challenge will keep me from doing that incipient S-L-I-D-E thing, you know a carb here and a carb there.......... all the way to Carb Perdition :yikes5'3" SW-141 CW-127 GW-hold below 125

OK, folks....WHERE IS EVERYONE!!! Let's all report in today (Friday) or tomorrow.
Boot Camp is over as of today, so I'll have more time on my hands -- and when I have more time on my hands, I can be very very persistent in PMing people to post!! Don't make me come after you!!!
For myself, I'm doing much better - I'm measuring all foods now - it's actually becoming a habit! I'm recording on fitday MORE. And the artificial sweetener thing is going great -- still use 1 maybe every 2-3 days.
Everybody else??
Hey -- did you notice they made us a STICKY!! So now we have a reputation to maintain -- status to live up to -- let's go!!!! KICK IT UP A NOTCH!

Reporting in....
My first day (Wednesday) with this challenge went swimmingly...recorded on Fitday, measured all my food, even exceeded my water commitment...instead of the 2 liters (64 fl. oz) I managed another 16oz..
Yesterday (Thursday) went just as well until I sat down with DH to watch a movie we had rented. Half way through he stops the movie and started to rummage around for some snacks. It was then that disaster struck...don't ask what happened, I am still trying to figure it out. I am horrified to admit that I went into a GAND MAL BINGE! I have not done this in so long that it has absolutely astounded me. I feel like I have been clobbered with a baseball bat from behind.
Although I am really disgusted with yesterday's behavior, I am dusting myself off and "climbing back on the horse". I am telling myself that , "yesterday is gone, today is another ride......make it a good one."

Hi Joan!
Hi ladies!
Well, on the water front all things are well.
The exercise front isn't so brilliant unless you count scrubbing floors as exercise!
The food journal is patchy.
It would seem the "kick" isn't so grand in my "kick it up a notch"!
I'm ready for my kick in the pants now!Restarted 2 October 2006

Well-well... good ideas find me last... But better late than never.
I need to:
start drinking water from the morning and not have all 2 litres at the afternoon (we know what than happens at night...)
stop drinking decaf every day
stay within 1800 kcal a day
not go over my limits with cream, sweetener, raspberries (and other berries), nuts, yogurt and cottage cheese (and everything else lol - how to put it nice and short?)female/33/5'

Checking in for the week...
Still no caffeinated drinks and have upped my water intake another 20 oz a day. However, I haven't been able to give up my one cup of decaf coffee a day, which has 2 packets of Splenda and 3 tablespoons of whipping cream. The cream and sweetner could be the reason why when I eat a meal with something a little spicy, I crave chocolate for dessert. I haven't given in to any of that, and instead have been drinking the extra water.
I signed up for Couch5K that I saw in one of Book's posts. I have been walking each weeknight around 9pm so no one sees me, and hopefully no one will see me try to run either!!!
I need to get back to the toning part of exercise but just haven't found a good time to do it. I'm too sweaty and tired to think about it after a run and it takes a lot of willpower as it is to get my butt off the couch and walk the 2 miles.
