  • 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

Ok, I have been doing everything I shouldn't.

    So, this is my plan.

*I am taking some dreaded pics today.

    *Do 6 wks of induction.

*I am going to exercise, walk 2 miles, 6 days a week.

*I am going to lift weights at least 3 times a week.

*I am going to drink 110 oz of water a day.

*I would like to stay away from the scales till the end of the six weeks but I don’t know if I can commit to that???????

*And at the end of the 6 wks I am going to take pics and post the before and after to see the difference.

Any one want to join my 6wk induction challenge with before and after pics at the end????????

PLEASE don't make me do this alone!

Weight at start of this Challenge is 267, goal is to see as much difference as possible to keep me motivated for life!!!!!

Ok, I made it threw day one, and it was rough. I didnt get all my water in, though i did choke down 64 oz. Did 2 miles. My head is hurting and i feel yuck, why do these first few days have to be so rough?

yah! I am not alone, so glad others are going to join me. I couldnt take pics till this morning because the batteries where dead when I went to do it yesterday. And oh my are the pics soooo gross. I think I am going to print one and put it the kitchen, so I will stay outta there. The scales I stayed off of it this morning and I am really going to try to stay away from it. Maybe I will get my daughter to hide them. I think I will take pic and weigh in on June 1st, it's a few more days then 6 wks, but close enough. Good luck to you Ron and New Me in 2005, hope other join too!!

yes! day two is gone. Went pretty well, did my 2 miles, and actually got 72oz of water in, hope to get it up to 110 day by the end of the week. Oh and I had my daughter hide the scales .

Day three done and gone, though I didnt get in as much water as I would have liked only 64 oz I keep forgetting to drink drink drink....I got 2 miles in yesterday and mowed the yard, grass is growing like crazy, I hate to mow, but it's good exercise.

This is day 4, I have already drank 64 oz of water today getting ready to fill up again. And I walked 2.6 miles. I havent been sleeping well so I am tired as heck.

Mark I read your blog, sounds like your doing good !

Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

I'd like to join you in this challenge but I don't have a way to take and post any pictures. What I would like to stick with is....

Clean (as I can make it given schedules etc) induction for the 6 weeks.

Increase my water intake to at least 72oz. That's three refills on my water bottle.

Take the long way around everywhere I go to increase steps walked each day.

                  Stay away from the scale.

Keep the cream out of my coffee. I'd stopped putting it in thinking it would decrease my coffee intake but I found I liked the coffee better without it! The black coffee sometimes bothers my stomach though so rather than start back on the cream I'd like to try backing off the coffee. This shouldn't be so hard for me but if it was easy I'd have done it already.

Keep better control of portion size. Sometimes I manage to keep to induction menus but still don't lose weight. At a certain point calories DO matter.

So.... here goes. I'm sipping my water as I head to fitday.com to log in what I've eaten so far today.

So far so good - one and a half days of clean living. The headache is a beast though. I'd forgotten about "induction headaches".

                    How are you all doing???

Welcome Yankee!!!! Yeah, I didn't know if I was going to make threw the headaches the first few days, they are killers.

Today is my day 8 !
                      So far:
I did my 2 miles (some days more) 6 days of the last week.
Water I drank a ton but have not gotten up to my goal yet.
And some how with all that water, more then I normally drink I managed to get UTI, how does that happen ?
Weights? Did I really put that down that I was going to lift them? Hummm why did I do that? LOL oh that was my plan, I was going to go to the gym, but not able to right now, and I don't have weights at home....sooooooooooooo, that part is on hold.
And the scale, well, I dont even know where it is thanks to my lovely daughter !
As far as eatting, doing good, did have some nuts though the other day, and some strawberries today, I know bad bad bad. Other then that I am doing good.
Hope it's going well for everyone! Let's kick some butt this week or at least loose some lol.

Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

Oh, thank heaven the headaches have stopped! I was up and down on the carbs but sort of restarted on Sunday and am doing well. Eating induction foods, exercising (I've never been consistent with this), journaling to keep focused, etc.

Probably the only non-Atkins food I can't - won't - give up is coffee. I COULD if I wanted to (sounds like an addict talking!) but my husband spent mucho bucks on a cappuccino machine for me last year and I can't bring myself to put it in the cellar. A shot of espresso really is wonderful and when I'm willing to spend the carbs I make a cappuccino with half-and-half. I figure we've saved the price of the machine and then some by my not going to Starbucks!

Nuts are a real downfall for me. I get dry-roasted unsalted almonds for road trips because they only have 1 net carb in a quarter cup serving but that is a really SMALL serving when you're hungry and there are no lo-carb foods available. We do lots of road trips with my son - a baseball player. Very soon now it'll be time to start living out of a cooler. Hotel rooms with a mini-frig and a microwave are a necessity.

Strawberries are pretty lo-carb aren't they? Though not induction friendly. It's almost picking time here in VA. The real challenge is mid to late summer when the blackberries are ripe. We eat them till our mouths are stained purple.

Glad to see you here - I was afraid no one was coming back!!! Have a great day and I'll check in with you later on - gotta get to work. Yuk. But hey, it'll keep me from eating anything I shouldn't!

Is it too late to join up with you? This sounds like a great challenge, and I'm definitely staying on Induction another 6 weeks. I could definitely use the accountablity, as I've been eating too much (legal foods) lately.
Female / Currently on Extended Induction (again), begun 6/2/08.

I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!

Hi LookingForward... it's "the more the merrier" as far as I know. Trying to be accountable is always so tough. I don't know why. I guess we lie to ourselves better than anyone!

Yesterday was not induction friendly but I certainly didn't overeat - 2 fried eggs for breakfast around 6:30am, lots and lots of stress, a granola bar and three hershey's kisses at 3pm, more stress, hamburger with a quarter cup of tomato sauce and some mozzarella at 6:30pm. Lots of water in the afternoon helped take the damage out of the granola bar I think. I hope. I vented about the day in Journal Chats which, so far since I'm very new at it, is helping tremendously. Only one week ago I'd have eaten an entire chocolate cake after a day like I had yesterday...........

Today WAS induction friendly and I hope it was for all of you too!

                              Hey everyone

If you don't mind me being a little more than "a little" late, I would love to join this challenge. I have struggled with doing a clean induction for over a month now - I have pushed through the "induction flu" and have finally admitted that I really don't know best (otherwise I wouldn't be struggling with trying to lose weight for the 100 teenth time in my life) - and am willing to learn from everyone else on this board - they've been where we are and are dedicated to make sure that we know how to get to where we are going - so thank you to everyone who gives amazing advice through this board. I don't know what I'd do w/o you guys!!

I have almost broken my peanut butter addiction (although it did help me get through the first few weeks) and am now working on less cheese, no sodium nitrate and more water I am ready for a "clean induction" and am hoping to find a bit of support here.

                              **my goals**
I NEED TO HIDE MY SCALE TOO!! (I think I may have my 8 yr old daughter do it for me too!! hehe)

I need to drink 96+ oz of water a day (I sometimes - okay ALOT of times fail to meet that goal)

I need to workout more - increased time, activity and days of the week
(I'm going to try for at least 20 on the elliptical 4x's a week, plus yoga booty at least 2 days a week and at least 40 situps 5 nights a week .. wish me luck)

Okay so those are my 5 week goals - I look forward to challenging myself to do this, and supporting ALL of you as you do this

                              Elisabeth

ps I am not going to set a solid weightloss goal as of yet for this challenge - I tend to stall here and there - and get bummed if I don't meet my goals - so for now, I am going to focus on a 5 week clean induction - and take it from there! Best of wishes to everyone - I know we can do this!!
