Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

well its day 11 for me and things are going fine, i'm in the groove and was 9 down at the end of week one.

the exercise will kick in over the weekend and its time to start building muscle, therefore my weight might not drop but my waistline will shrink.

the water is going good and there has been no cheating, all clean all the way.

i've started having tuna for lunch with some onion and mayo and its soooooo good, either that or chicken with garlic mayo and some peppers and onion.

scrmbled egg for breakfact every morning and some bacon after 11 to keep the hunger cravings as bay.

but anyway its going well and no more thumbing head, that really got to me last time.

off now for a long weekend here in ireland so i'm off monday, i hope to get to the gym twice over the weekend and get the fitness side of my diet off to a start.

Well done on 9 pounds in 11 days! And the mindset. That's the hardest part, I think.

I'm down 6 pounds and am happy but wish it wasn't 6 that I'd gained back just a little while ago. I'm in up-and-down mode and hope this will break that cycle. We had an emotionally wringing experience here last night - long story, medical emergency, all ok - and I was just fine until this morning when I ate the biggest brownie known to man. I did penance at the gym and am refusing to use it as an excuse to eat what I want "just today" because "just today" ends up being "I'll restart next week" and before you know you've gained 10 pounds. Ugh.

Enjoy your long weekend and your trips to the gym. It really does feel good to get the exercise in!

That's great!!! I'm not as successful as you but the scale has showed somewhere between a 6 and 9 pound loss - it wobbles from day to day and I should check in on the doc's scale but have not made time to stop in his office.

Another busy day begins with dd's swim practice, work, dinner prep, ds's baseball game, and anything else that pops up in between............

I wonder if being tired affects weight loss?

The induction part is not going well but the exercise and weight loss - right now - are in gear. Does that still qualify me to be in this challenge????? I'm doing a "sort of" induction as time and circumstance allow. Most of the stuff is induction friendly but....

Where is everyone else? chrleeann??? The last challenge I was in went the same way with the ones starting it up debunking. Kind of depressing! SO... I will continue to check in and see how you are doing!!! Isn't it nice to put on clothing that feels loose when only a couple of weeks ago it was uncomfortable? I love it!

Yankee i dont want to lecture, but there is no such thind as "sort of" induction, where are you failing. My time is limited as well but planning can help, like i left home at 6 am this morning and wont be back until 3am tomorrow morning but i have brought 3 meals with me and i know what i can and can't eat on the run.

also get rid of normal coffee and only keep de caff at home, i always have cream and slplenda and always some sort of sliced meat in the fridge for a snack if i need it.

if you can even only do the 1st two weeks clean you'll feel so much better for it, believe me.

Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

Lecturing is sometimes what I need so go for it! What I'm eating isn't that far off the induction list but well... for example... yesterday we did a pot luck at work. It was picnic type foods that we were to bring - there were hot dogs, chili, cornbread, cheese, onions, baked beans, rolls, and a chocolate dessert. I brought the beans and rolls because they're safe foods for me - don't like either one so I won't pick while I'm preparing and won't eat it when it's on the table. The carb count in the hot dogs was 1 gram each so I had two of those with some chili over the top. And some cheese. I have a hard time controlling the volume of onion I'd like to eat so I skipped those. I picked out the bulk of the beans from the chili but there were some in what I ate and I eyeballed the tomato in there to be about a cup. Hot dogs are a low carb meat (if all beef hot dogs can be considered meat) but are they on the induction list? I'd have to check. Most of the ingredients in the chili were ok but the beans are not. I couldn't have gracefully skipped the meal so I did the best I thought I could do - it's a great group of women I work with and that is a very rare thing!!! Pepperoni is also quick and easy, doesn't require a pot or pan, and has no carbs but is it really for induction?

Baseball season is about to really heat up on the high school showcase circuit so I'll be living out of a cooler almost every weekend. In some ways that's easier as it forces me to be prepared. In other ways... well, it gets boring.

I promise I will add cooking a whole chicken to my list of things to do today!!! It'll give me carb free food for a few days and I'll be glad I did it!

Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

I am still here! Yeah, I have been on those that by the end most everyone has baled and I am there posting by myself, and it bothers me it is really hard without any support. The last few times that I have tried to post it wouldn't let me type in this little box. And then I have been outta town on a camping trip with my daugthers 5th grade classes camping trip the last 4 days. I can't believe I stayed clean the whole trip, it wasnt easy and there wasnt much that I could eat, but I was so tired and worn out by the end eatting was a chore and I didn't even care if the food I could have was boring...lol

I haven't weighed myself, but I am going to step on the scale Monday morning that will be my 3 week check in. I don't really feel like I have lost much. My clothes aren't as tight but I am not really seeing much of a difference like I was hoping for. I have walked at least 6 days out of each week and at least 1 mile, but for the most part 1.6-3.2 miles. Then on the camping trip we did more then 4 each day on trails and big hills, and about 450 steps (which killed me) the back of my calves hurt so bad today I am having a hard time walking around the house, but feeling better as the day goes on. Tomorrow I don't know if I will be walking, because I have to mow the yard and I am not sure if my legs will beable to take that..lol But it takes about 45 minutes to push mow it so tomorrow I will be using that as my exercise.

I was bad today though, I ate a cookie, I don't know why, I am just tired, stressed and I want to eat everything in sight. I know the cookie hurt, but I am not going to eat anything else I am not suppose to have, the cookie was bad enough.

Yes being tired and not getting enough rest does effect weight lose, and so does stress. So try to get enough sleep and stay stress free. I have been having a very hard time doing both, my stress level has been threw the roof, and hovering around the moon.

Yes, everyone is welcome no matter how late you join and even if your following rules alittle different then some of us. This is just a support team, a place were we share and help and learn from each other as well as from our own mistakes.

I hope everyone is doing great! And I won't be debunking on the challenge .

Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

Four days camping with 5th graders??? I'd have eaten everything in sight! I work with 5th graders every day. MOST of them are great but the ones that aren't... well, look out. You survived and didn't go off plan, that's a major accomplishment!!!!

Have you checked your measurements??? I'm in the 6-week exercise challenge and was getting discouraged until I took the advice of one of the other challengers and checked my measurements. Few pounds lost but SEVERAL inches are gone! I'd have to upstairs and check the rest of them but know that 2 inches came off my waist in the last two weeks. We're two weeks into the six and I'm not sure at what point anyone can join up but it's really great and has gotten me moving - a miracle, let me tell you! And journal chats helps a lot too.

I'm with you on the eating everything in sight thing right now. Yesterday it was Hershey's kisses with cherry cordial cream in them. I think I ate a half dozen which blew my induction carb counts out of the water and I paid for it on the scale this morning. I'll get back into gear today though. Boiled some eggs yesterday for the snack attacks, there's tuna in the frig too. Anything else I'd have to cook but at least there's SOMETHING!!! I'd cooked up a chicken on Friday thinking I could pick at that but everyone ate it.

Enough sleep ... ugh. This weekend isn't bad because we have no swim meet to get dd to. There is, however, another three yards of mulch about to be delivered that has to be spread on the planting beds! And ds's baseball game tonight. Same old thing..........

                      Glad to see you back!!!!!!

Re: 6wk induction challenge w/before & after pics

Just remember: Every time you eat something illegal, you not only sabotage yourself for THAT day, but you virtually erase the good you've done over the past few days, you kick yourself out of ketosis which takes a couple days to get back into....

Eating a cookie or a hershey's kiss might feel good at the time, but it is basically like putting a loaded gun to the temple of your weight-loss potential and firing away.

Yea... sigh. So why do we do it???? If I could answer that I guess I wouldn't need to be on a diet.

Didn't I just see you in journal chats??? LOL... I try to stop in other journals just to see what others are struggling with and get to "know" people a bit better. Time makes it hard though!

Thanks Yankee, I was really proud of myself too. I don't know how you work with 5th graders everyday. There is no way I could do it.

measurements? Yeah I took them, and would like to check them, but I can't find the measuring tape .

I weighed myself today, only down 9.2 lbs, which is good, just not as good as I was hoping for.

Freckles your right, but I am with Yankee, I don't know why we do it. I guess we get tired of being the people that have watch everything we eat, when there are people out there that can eat whatever they want whenever they want and not gain an ounce. I know the cookie was the wrong thing to do. But it was just one cookie, I didn't say after I ate, well I ate that now I should just eat whatever because I messed it up anyway (I have done that many times) so I am trying to not be so hard on myself and just keep eatting the best that I can.

Ok lets get this week off to a good start!

Bad week for me last week, I went on a binge Fri & Sat., I am really upset with myself. I feel like crap. My head hurts, and I am tired, and my stomach is upset. I know how eatting those carbs make me feel after wards, but I just lost my mind. So, as of today I am back on day 2 .

I have been thinking about you a lot. Just haven't made the time to come in and post. Mother's Day was a carb-laden one for me, not so much by desire to eat the stuff as the desire to let my kids cook for me the things they are comfortable cooking and know I love. My daughter made a pasta/prosciutto dish for me that was wonderful and I ate it up with no guilt whatsoever. BUT... I am now back on track and starting to feel better. Flour based foods really mess up my joints. So keep trying!!!!!! We're in this together!
