I am such the non exerciser. I did yoga from a tape for a while and I really enjoyed it. I have loaned it out, I should get that back. It's not cardio but it's difficult and you break a good sweat. Walking would be okay for my back and it actually would be nice to just have a little while all to me, no phone, no lights, no motorcar and all that! So, I'm starting tomorrow!

Are you sure you can jog if you've had recurrent stress fractures bjs? The worse thing you could do right now is to hurt yourself again and wind up in bed. That would set you back both with your weight, exercise and upcoming surgery. Try to think of exercises that are gentle to your body. Things that might strengthen the body like yoga, even heat yoga can be really strenuous but helps to strengthen the joints. I wouldn't go against your doctors recommendations right now!
