    Joy,

    It must have been something salty! It's just temporary, it'll go away. Does the fiber in Metamucil ever cause you to have temporary weight gain?

      yeh-- since I started this challenge. I never have measured before this challenge .. Is that good? I was hoping for more. Maybe I should be happy.

          Would explain the baggy crotch.. My fat arms and waist havent budged tho. jsut 1 inch in each thigh, and 2 in my hips.. I dunno, guess it would be more, but I know nothing about this measuring stuff, it is all new. I am a total pounds and size oriented person.

          I guess the new challenge will teach me to watch my inches to ..

          I will be happy with this as it is a loss, but hope for more luck in the future.

            bjs I know how you feel... I have thick arms too and they just haven't moved... ugh. And my hips are exactly the same. I guess some parts of ours just react slower than others.

              Good glad I am not alone. I am seeing PT tomorrow. I am going ot see what he has for ideas within my capabilty to do for arms. He works my legs quite rigorously, plus my walking is about all they can take.

              I work my abs quite a bit with my ab lounge and some pilates. I do nothing with my arms. Thought jsut losing weight would shrink them. Guess not..

              Will see, slow and steady wins the race. It doesnt help I have been sick an dnot excersing a couple of points through this challenge.

              I just did a real rough quick measure too, so maybe I will slow down and get a more accurate reading at the tend of challenge.

                  well 10 days went for my computer to get fixed, which did not happen therefore I had to invest on a new one........... and i was good on those 10 days however the only thing i found difficult was to calculate my ratio.

                  the next 10 days, hmmmm so sorry i was of the wagon for a couple of days, not my fault honestly...

                  My mum was sick and i had to go and visit her, there it was havok with all family members around and there was no time to prepare for meals, it was like whenever you are hungry we had to grab anything that was in hand.

                  Plus i am the eldest so i was sort of in charge of things which was another responsibility.

                  well pretty soon i went back as i fell bloated

                    bjs & kittie--your problem areas will be the last to go. That's what I'm struggling with, and so is Sarah (iyamamaschke). Bjs, you are shaped like me...pear shaped. And, for some reason, for that shape the limbs just don't move. My arms lost NOTHING for 14 WEEKS and just started losing 2 weeks ago...and now not moving again. My legs did the same thing for 9 weeks! But, I'm losing in abdomen and hips. I've heard over and over again that on Atkins you lose the fat in your belly FIRST and then you move into the limbs. Both of you are doing great!!!

                    Bjs and Cher, ask your doctors if you can use the fitness bands or light weights for your arms. Any muscle you can build will burn calories more efficiently and LONGER than any cardio. It will add weight TEMPORARILY....but I'm going to be after inches for the next challenge irregardless of weight.

                      Ooops, I got so long winded I almost forgot to post my weight.

                      Cher, it HAD to be the metamucil holding fluid in my intestines!!! This morning I'm back down to 208.4! That's 2.2 lbs lost this week.

                      I lost 2 1/4" this week too.

                        Morning girls...

                        Nothing new this morning. I'm plateau-ing between 160-162.5, never getting lower. Scale reads 161 this morning. I don't know what else to do - I'm exercising every day. Joy, I'm going to try that HIIT, maybe that'll kick things up? Oh and I'm sure that weight gain is water weight... but it really sucks to see the scale go up no matter the reason, doesn't it? I'm glad we're doing the tape challenge.

                        Tell me though - do you think that my exercise routine is too short to be effective? It's ten minutes on the treadmill a day at varying speeds, (I feel very winded after this) and five minutes on an elliptical machine. Would going 20 on the treadmill help me lose faster?

                          Yeh Joy, I have the resistance bands. I also have 5 pound dumbells. I can use for upper body excersises, but have been demanded not to use with lower body. I wasn doing lunges and squats with the dumbells in hand, thinking it would increase my upper body work out or cardio. NOt realizing it challenged my legs, and I tore my quad. It is still healing, I got SH** for that..lol. But they kinda chuckled and said they admired my spirit. So, I am planning on going back to my lunge and squat vidoe minus the weights next week. That should make a hige difference, I hope, I sure feel the pain after that work out.

                          I will definately stop, the scale fetish while increasign my workouts, as I hold so much water. So, I liekt o jsut go by clothing, and comments fom others on shrinkage.

                          Noorian, WB, hope you can get right back on track.

                          Kitty- I am 5'8" as well, I lost 14#'s on induction and right off quick 19, but then stalled. Now, am losing 2-4 lbs a week, and I am sure will stall again.. SO, you will have a loss period coming, I am sure..

                            Hi Noorian - it sounds like you've had a tough time sorry! Hope you're able to come back on-line for a while. How is your program coming along?

                            Joy - The arms are really a tough spot for me right now. I can't believe how bad they are. That is also the area which is connected directly to the back. But, I was talking to dear BF about the need to do something. The doctor has said no pilates or physical therapy yet and I can't pick up anything over 5 pounds so I was thinking of re-starting Body for life again but using 2 or 3 pound weights. The fitness bands sounds like a great idea. I used them in pilates and they felt good but my personal trainer pushed way too hard that why I almost had to have the back and neck surgery a month ago. So, I think I'm a better judge of what's hurting my body. BF is a little afraid. But, honestly, I'm looking at my arms this time, and I remember everyone's arms who used flax seed oil and Body for Life last time (even women in their 50's - they looked incredible), and I think I need to try. I'll just start really slow!

                            P.S. Joy - I knew Metamucil would do that...lol!

                            Kitty - On an average you've lost 13.5 pounds almost 14 pounds, depending on water weight! I think you're doing great! You're weight is consistently going down and you've been doing and incredible job! Your are just in that timeframe where the body needs to spend a few minutes catching up to he weight loss that it's had and then it will release more weight. So, hang in there.

                            bjs -You may need to go down to 2 or 3 pound weights like I'm going to try to do. Believe it or not, I know someone who showed progress using 3 pound weights. But, she use them consistently.

                              So are you guys up for changing the name of this thread to "extended to July 4th"? We're all doing fairly well ('cept for our stalls) and I know I need the extra weeks. I can do it, yes I can. Anyone else?

                                Silly, I wanted to do the same thing...lol, but, I didn't know how to extend the thread.

                                Joy, wanted to do the same thing so we would have the same support group. So, she started an inches challenge on a new thread.

                                That thread is for 6 weeks... starting the 19th.
