Cheatfree: 14 Days!
My Auguest Milage: 18/75
I have completed 17 of 17. I have only been on the program fro 17 days so far so I am happy to say I have never cheated! I only hope that I can say that after I have been on this WOE for six months.
I think we all have our own interpretaion of the phrase 'cheat-free'. I allow myself up to 3 servings of allowed sweetener a day and count one carb per serving whether I am adding powdered splenda myself or a sweetener tablet or one serving of a commercially prepared item like a soft (diet) drink.
To me, cheating means eating outside my stage of Atkins, so on induciton I never ate nuts or peanuts, and the only seeds I ate were a tablespoon of ground flax used to ward off constipation.
As far as I know none of the bars or other Atkins products only contain induction-legal ingredients so those were out for me.
Though now I am in premaintenance I could 'legally' eat them if I wanted, I always count sugar alcholol carbs the same as other carbs, and only deduct them to get a lower 'net carb' number if they rush straight through me and I spend the night on the loo!! Not worth the bother to my mind!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies? Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Hi Jane - thanks Took a while to get this focused for me, but am DETERMINED to make 169 days now as so close. After that I think I might as well carry on as the urge to cheat is practically non-existent, it's more just when I'm at someones house or whatever.
Yay on the 4 - you can so do 46
He 2BME - congrats on being cheat free
Hi Helena - well this might be a bit controversial but I think to some extent it is up to the individual to decide what is a cheat or not and also what rung they are on. A cheat for me is something not allowed on the rung I'm on, anything with sugar or white flour or if I eat too much (like 5g) over my carbs limit for the day. Anything franekenfoody I eat I count in my totals and I do it rarely.
When I was stalling I did cut out splenda etc and had desserts only at weekends. It is really whatever works for you - without bending the rules too far!

I'm with Elizellen and Alexa - a cheat is something not on your rung!! So if I have alcohol and I'm not upto that rung yet - I would class that as a cheat.
In the end of the day the only people we cheat are ourselves!!!
