Re: New Me for 2007 New Years Challenge!

Hello??? Where is everybody...Rikki, Shilo, Juli, Rahcel Veronica???
    Where is everybody...

I was just reflecting with another poster...who is afraid she is not strong enough for the holidays. How do we increase our strength? Or are we unaware of just how strong we are??? I know i have alot of strength now. i know I did not in the beginning and I stayed away from a lot of things. I am not troubled with the holidays. I do have one huge party we have accepted the invitation to...It's a dress up deal, and the food is all pre arranged...I am concerned about that...But, hey I ahve gone and stood with a glass of water in my places....and I have gone and stood with no water, and no food...So it can be done!!!
How do we build strength? I lift weights, for my muscles and I walk and jog and bike to increase cardio strength??? How do we do it for the holidays...

Hey Jess (and all the other 2007 groupies).

      I'm here just been thinking. That's a good question . . .

"How do we increase our strength? Or are we unaware of just how strong we are???"

I'll take it one step further, how do we become that "new person". The one that isn't even worried about the holidays because this way life is now so much a part of them they do not have to think about it. The person who knows just how strong they are . . . and doesn't have to rely on their strength anymore, because being healthy is now automatic . . . like breathing.

I'm not saying that we are all going to become this person overnight or even for this holiday season or next. It's just an idea I'm playing with . . . so I have I question for everyone . . .

      What keeps you evolving/motivated/on track/inspired . . .

Throw out quotes, advice, positive thoughts, things you come accross throughout the day that make you smile, whatever. Let's try to inspire another with what we find inspirational. (It doesn't even have to necissarily be in regards to weight loss).

Let's give ourselves some tools to prepare ourselves for next year.

      I'll start:

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen. Frank Lloyd Wright

I got this from another thread and put it in my journal. I lost the thread I got it from . . . sorry. It was one with inpirational messages and advice.

Anyway, I've been playing around with this Idea (co-creating, manifesting, whatever you want to call it) even before I read this quote. I think this sums it all up nicely.

Re: New Me for 2007 New Years Challenge!

              OK, one more.

I have another goal (unrelated to weight loss) that I want to achieve, hopefully by next year . . . but I'm not putting limitations on it. It's a big goal for me, probably one of the biggist I've had. I had almost given up on it. But I want it now, more than anything else. So to keep me on track I'm going to ask myself every night:

How much closer am I to reaching my goal today than I was yesterday??

              Than Last month ??

              Last Year ??

What did you do today to bring you closer??

If you can't think of anything then I want you to go . . . RIGHT NOW . . . and focus on achieving your goal for 15min. You don't have to DO anything, just think about achieving your goal and how good it will feel . . . that will bring you closer.

This is what inspired me today . . . and brought me out of a slump.

Re: New Me for 2007 New Years Challenge!

Kristi- great post! I totally agree with you... so today to work towards my goal I didn't have that low carb beer at the birthday lunch for my coworker! I also just had a burger and broccoli at lunch... tomorrow to work towards my goal I will be sure to do some sort of physical activity. I almost feel as if I am coming down with something... hopefully not *crosses fingers* my throat has been sore and my ears are kinda achy. I probably just need to spend the night at home resting! well.... catch yall later!
I am in the process of making some chicken soup(with noodles for dh) and I am not sure what all I am putting in mine... celery and cabbage i think. maybe a few pepper pieces too and some mushrooms... hmmm....

Re: New Me for 2007 New Years Challenge!

Kristi, sounds like you are on a roll girl...Great post, great questions to ask yourself.
I love setting small goals and achieving them..Tomorrow is our big hike. I am not sure we will make if because it's suppose to rain, and we are hiking up a smooth mountain rock...if you can believe it..it's called stone mountain, because it's just a huge huge stone outcropping.
We shall see. Today has been a real downer...I am pretty tired, worn out from a big week, and I was just a prickly person today...Not too happy...But I refused to allow the mood to cause any damage!
Hope you have a great weekend.

Wow, it must've been a full moon. I totally fell apart yesterday, I don't know what hit me . . . stress, from work, at home?? I don't know what hit me, I went from being down, to feeling excited and inspired, to to just totally and awfully horrible. But I think my strenght (at least lately) is getting back on track.

I'm starting day 1 of OWL today, even thought I didn't have a clean induction. Right now I'm just feeling Blah, and I have a killer headache.

Vern- it happens to the best of us- way to go on dusting yourself off and hopping right back on the wagon!
Jess-- you really kick butt on your exercise! way to go!
                              Kristi- good luck with OWL!

Well, I am doing well, just had a portobella mushroom pizza steak for dinner. yum. I am getting a bit bummed though because I bought some ketostix from the pharmacy and can't seem to get them to say more than a trace! ugh! maybe tomorrow *crosses fingers* I have been eating legal foods but i guess if it doesn't show some major change tomorrow or monday I am really going to have to reevaluate what I am doing!

Well, hope you all have a great night! I am not feeling 100% either so that may possible have something to do with it! Time to get in my jammies and humt some sugar free medicine down, wish I would've thought of that at Walmart before I got home... oh well... hopefully i have something, if not a strong dose of ibuprofen(sp) it is!

Re: New Me for 2007 New Years Challenge!

Hey Rikki, I hope you feel better! I love what you said, if you don't see a result, you will reevaluate things...and change your eating. You know, we have to do that, we have to evaluate, and change things up. Yesterday I felt bloated all day, and have had this slight blue mood. I left the day open, and relaxed...Yes I exercised with the same intense attitude...but I did not make myself do a million things. I ate parm.chicken last night, and I ate the whole piece of chicken...and then my stomach was the fullest it's been in some time...and uncomfortable, because I did not stop at satisfied! I felt badly, physically which of course turned me downward emotionally. Been to the bathroom 2 times already, clearly dinner did not set well with me...
Time to reevaluate, time to "catch myself" pushing the limits...I ate legal, but for me the next step is to stop when satisfied...
In the beginng it's all about just getting going, THEN we turn and TUNE things up...
I ignored my tuning...I paid for that one all night long. Legal food gone too far!
It was tied to emotions...EMO GOT ME...I should have been more active and out of the house, I should have gone for that walk in the woods, I was thinking of, I should have not sat around all day long, it fostered emotions that were bored and FELT LIKE THEY DESERVED a TREAT! Truthfully I probably overate a couple of ounces...But it was way too "old me"....
I like what you said Rikki, "evaluate" because you are not happy with the results. I like what Vern said, "Dust yourself off and keep going"...
                                Off to find a duster!
