I would not be able to do Lyssie's schedule...I don't know how *she* does it. I'd be collapsed in a corner, or eating a whole cow with a pound of butter or eels with a side of mayo somewhere.

Julie, how *dare* you insult my dinner!! :P The eels give extra protein for the extra hard workouts, don't you know??

I have to have the energy. I'm an overachiever, and perfectionist. I don't know my limits and have made myself sick from trying to do too much if I don't have someone to stop me. I am perfectly aware that while you guys think my schedule is a smidge insane, I think in my head that if I could get up and do 5 hours a day, that I would reach goal faster, be better, be prettier, be smarter, which means people will like me more, and perhaps even love me.

That's all for a glimpse into my twisted world. One reason I take medication.

So, today was good. I ate very good, drank lots of water, ran 4.5 miles in 54 minutes and am in deep ketosis. Oh, I had my vitamins today.

So, all of that is what will get me to goal...theoretically.

After last night's boot camp class and tonight's 5 mile run, I'm totally hobbled. Geoff and I went to the grocery store, and little old ladies were passing me and flipping me the bird...ok not really, but that's about as *fast* as I was walking.

But my food choices are excellent and I'm eating lots of veggies and drinking lots of wateR!

Hey Elsy, I eat bacon all the time, that and sauage patties. Love em! I haven't had any stalls because of bacon I don't think but sugar alcohols that are in sugar free chocolate stall me out big time! Water doesn't cause you to stall. It may take your body to get used to an increased amount of water intake, but it catches up pretty quickly. Infact, being dehydrated will cause you to stall more!!!!! Every cellular function that the body does needs water to work. including fat burning, so drink up! It is good for you, for your weightloss and for your kidneys to flush out any toxins that are trapped in all of the fat that your body has held on to. I hope this helps out with your question.

Today was so freakin busy this is the first time I got to sit down at my laptop.... ugh I am beat! I did 12 miles today on my bike, and it was a struggle to make the decission to do it. I have so much to pack around the house that I acctually had to just make the decission to do it regardless of completing my other chores. I am glad I did it, but now I am terribly behind and may have to slow down a bit on the miles until our open house. Anyways, foods are good but probably not enough, (no time to eat) and I didn't drink enough today for all of the miles, but I did meet my minimum. Gotta go post in challenges, but it is so nice to hear of everyones goings on. It is so encouraging to see success!

A tempo run isn't really like HIIT. THere are no intervals. It's just balls to the wall for the whole run. Fartlecks are like HIIT, except the recovery sections are still running, albeit at a slower pace. I did Fartlecks the other day--1 minute running at 5mph, and 1 minute running at 7mph, then another minute of 5, another minute of 7, and so on until I had done a mile. Technically I think they're supposed to be 2-3 miles long, but I had already done 2 miles before I did the fartlecks so I was exhausted.

Hub, thank you so much for answering my questions about bacon and water. For some reason, I feel like I'm flooding myself with water. Still drinking way over 100 oz.

So the good news is that I have not cheated a single time and have kept up with my dialy workout. Unfortuantely, I cannot go to the gym so don't have access to all those machines and differnet classes. I have an eleptical machine at home, a jump rope, resistance bands, a gymnastik ball, small dumb bells, and the Billy Blanks newest series that works on resistance training. I figured I will just vary the workout from day to day and don't let my body get used to one thing only.

Hub and Julie, I was reading your postings and saw how much weight you have lost in so little time. I noticed you do a ton of exercise.
Did you start with the same amount since day one or did you start slow and then work your way up?
What type of routine were you doing during induction and how long did you do induction before you went to OWL?
What were your typical meals like during induction?
Do you record all this is FitDay or anywhere else?
Do you mind taking a peek at my public profile in FitDay and let me know if I'm eating to much?

I want to know if I'm on the right track. I don't want to wait till it's' too late and then get discouraged like usual and quit.

Please, please, take a look and let me know. I appreciate it.

Did you start with the same amount since day one or did you start slow and then work your way up?

I've been increasing my exercise steadily. When I first started Atkins, I was working out maybe 3-4 times per week. I now work out 6x a week, for 1-2 hours. It's been increasing for a couple of reasons--1) I LOVE to work out! 2) I need to keep challenging myself if I want to keep improving. When I started, I did the elliptical machine a lot. I've since broadened my horizons and I do boot camp and kickboxing classes, strength training and running as my main forms of exercise.

What type of routine were you doing during induction and how long did you do induction before you went to OWL?

During induction I was walking/trying to jog, and doing the elliptical mostly. It's hard to say how long I actually did induction. I started in August WITHOUT reading the book and was one of these people that made up my own rules. I did 2 weeks of "induction" and then moved to my own version of "OWL" for 2 weeks. During that time I found this site and wised up--I started reading and posting and finally read the book. I did a CLEAN induction for 2 weeks, and then moved on to OWL the RIGHT way! Since my re-induction, I've been doing it cleanly, no cheats, by the book.

What were your typical meals like during induction?

During my clean induction, I usually ate a small omelet for breakfast; grilled chicken or turkey, a cheese stick, veggies like celery or cauliflower or bell peppers or broccoli with ranch for lunch; and for dinner, grilled meat or bunless burgers with salad or "other" veggie. I also ate pepperoni and mozzarella, veggies and dip, chicken and ranch, egg salad, as snacks.

Do you record all this is FitDay or anywhere else?

I record EVERYTHING in fitday EVERY single day. I think that's what helps me stay on track. At any given point I know exactly what I've eaten, how many carbs, my percentages, how many calories I've burned in a day, etc. I think it is so important to keep a food log because you can pinpoint problem foods and you'll always be aware of how much you're eating. Keeping my fitday log public also helps to keep me accountable.

Do you mind taking a peek at my public profile in FitDay and let me know if I'm eating to much?

OK--I'll take a look right now and let you know...

Elsy I think your fitday looks great!

*You're eating lots of different kinds of veggies! AWESOME! The ideal thing to do is spread them out throughout the day, which I STILL have a hard time doing...Only on weekends to I seem to manage having veggies at all three meals.

*You're eating a variety of foods! This is great--boredom is the LAST thing you want!

*You're staying within your cheese allowance! The only thing I would suggest is eating FULL-FAT cheeses when you eat them. No LOWFAT stuff!

                        *You're drinking lots of water!

*You're eating at least 1500 calories a day! It's crucial to stay above 1200 calories, and even better to stay above 1500. Your BMR is in the 1700s, so you should probably aim for 1800 calories a day. Just make sure to feed your hunger. After a big workout, it's normal to have an increased appetite. If it's hunger, FEED IT. If it's cravings, IGNORE IT.

Julie, A Big THANK YOU to you for all the time you took to answer each and every one of my questions and for taking a look at my daily food intake/excerise. I feel much better now. I guess my problem is that I am expecting to loose too much too soon. I'm excercising 45 minutes a day, 6 times a day already and I just started. This might burn me up pretty soon at the rate I'm going. I also need to really get out of this state of mind and focus on slow but steady. I should know better. You're right about the veggies and cheese. I don't think I'm supposed to even eat pepper jack cheese during induction and I also read that I can only have 4 oz (slices) of bacon a day. I'll make some minor changes here and there.

Again thanks and have a great rest of the day.

I always ate pepperjack cheese--it's made with monterey cheese, which is an aged cheese, and jalapenos count as a salad veggie. Eat it if you want to, girly! As for the bacon, there's no limit/quota on it, just be warned that processed meats can cause water retention or stalls in some people. Bacon also can have added sugars, something to watch out for. I eat bacon usually once or twice a week with no problems, but everybody is different.

Julie and Joy, you're telling me to eat, eat, eat if I'm still hungry. The problem is, I'm so scared to eat more... Just look at my total calorie count for today. It's about 2300 calories. I thought my food choices were really good but still hungry 1 hr after I ate. What's going on with me Like I mentioned on my journal, this is my second week on induction and it's not until now that I'm feeling really hungry all day long and light headed. I was perfectly fine the first week and managed to lose 8 lbs. I'm eating the right foods, drinking plenty of water, exercising a reasonable amount of time, taking L-Carnitine and Chromium/Magnesium/Zinc tablets. Why in the world can I not satisfy this uncesable hunger ? Has anyone experienced this before?

Julie, you suggested that according to my BMR, I should it around 1800 calories a day. Well I'm packing the calories girl, and still hungry. I don't know what to do. It's driving me crazy What else can I eat without going over my calorie/fat/ratio?
