First off, on today's fitday you've got 5 slices of bacon as over 1000 calories. That's GOT to be wrong. That selection is for bacon where in 1 pound there are only 12 slices. Are you SURE that's what you've got?

Go by the nutrition information on the package you've got. Put it in as a custom food.

I had this problem today. I was *STARVING* most of the day....but I was trying to keep my calories under 2000. I had eaten a country style pork rib that weighed 6 ounces. Fitday, said 6 ounces was worth 556 calories. After a while, I got to thinking...that' *Can't* be right...why am I so hungry?? So, I went to the USDA nutrition database and looked it up there...and the calories were like only 296. So, I had to change the selection I used to get it straightened out.

Oh, I also see you used the raw choice of bacon. Unless you cooked the bacon, ate it PLUS drank all the grease leftover, you didn't consume ALL of those calories.

      Here's my fitday...and I've had a hungry day too.
      http://fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJourn...Owner=ride2joy

DISCLAIMER: I have not yet eaten all that's on here. There is 100 grams of jicama I have to eat before I go to bed for the veggie challenge. There is also a serving of whey protein isolate that I'm going to have when I get done with my workout later tonight.

Thanks Joy. I'll check it out and change the selection. You're absolutely right. I'm also gonna check out your link to fit day.

        Thanks for your help.

            Ooohhh I *LOVE* Jicama!

Lyssie & Julie--Not a word out of either of you.

It is a tuber. It is on the salad veggie list, so you can have 2 cups of it a day on induction (more on OWL). For one cup it 11.5 total carbs - 6.4 fiber = 5.1 net carbs. This is a GREAT way to get your fiber on induction. It has a texture like a potatoe without the starch. It has a slightly sweet taste, lots of crunch. Somewhat like a not very sweet (but not sour either) apple. Or maybe like a dry pear. It has a very earthy taste to it. It has absolutely replaced my need for apples. I eat it cut up and raw.

What stores do you usually find it in? I only have Walmart super center, Albersons and Safeway.

I can get mine at Walmart Supercenter. In the section by the organic produce. I don't shop Albertson's or Safeway...so I'm not sure if they have it or not.

KG, Albertsons carries them too, but they're usually pretty cruddy. Wal-Mart always seems to have the best jicama.

                      Good Morning to all!

After correcting yesterdays mistake on the bacon...........I feel much better. Thanks Joy for chatching it.

I have another comment on the jicama. I was raised in the Texas border with Mexico, and Jicama was sold in the Mexican mercado (market) sliced up in a cup with lots of lemon and red hot chile (the liquid kind). OMG, that was delicious. You all should try it that way. At least with the lemon or lime.

Hey Elsy, I hope this helps a bit and that i haven't gone overboard with info! You are doing fine, don't worry so much. The science of Atkins works, it just takes time. This is something I also stress over, but am getting to come to a place of peace where it is ok for it to take time, it will make it more of a lasting lifestyle than a quick fix. Take care!

I built up my exercise as I found I could do more. I started out doing a dvd that has levels so you can build up to level 3 on the dvd. I am on level 2 but started at level one. Also I have added new things so that extra exercise is in almost everything I do. I do squats when I am just standing around, plies when I do dishes, dumbell curls when I am carrying groceries, I walk up and down the stairs extra times to get in some extra workingout. It all adds up and even if you don't have a lot of time, 5 minutes extra at a time really adds up.
What type of routine were you doing during induction and how long did you do induction before you went to OWL?
I didn't exercise too much durring induction to be honest. I started to exercise about 6 weeks into Atkins, and i wish I had the sense you have to focus on it right from the start. It has made a huge difference in my body shape even with less pounds lost. (i still have lost a lot! but since musce weighs more than fat, i may have gained some pounds of muscle, but that is good because muscles burns more fat)
What were your typical meals like during induction?
Durring induction I had on a usual day some kind of breakfast meat ( bacon, ham, sausage) with some veggie sticks like peppers (1/2cup?) some scrambled eggs, or if I wanted something sweet I would have a mock danish with some breakfast meat. Lunch almost always was 1 cup salad, left over meat from dinner, or some salami with mustard and wrapped around celery, or bacon around celery, or some times I made chicken & veggie soup (homemade), so many things so little space! Dinner was usually something grilled or roasted, 1 cup of veggies, 1 cup of salad, and some SF jello for desert, or something like that. If I was still craving sweet I would have another mock danish. I also had snacks of olives and cheese with bluecheese dip and a bit of pepper for dipping.
Do you record all this is FitDay or anywhere else?
I didn't record it at first, and I did for a while, but I only record it occasionally now. I was starting to stress. So not stressing has been good for me. BUT it is a valuable tool, and good when you don't stress!
Do you mind taking a peek at my public profile in FitDay and let me know if I'm eating to much?
If you are eating at your BMR and a little bit extrat to make up for your exercise you should be fine. Eating too little is counter productive. It will make your weight loss stall. Believe me, eating enough has been the key to my success, that and exercise and coming here for support.

Just checking in for today! I had a 4 mile run in my new workout clothes. I was a little self conscious, but I said "ah screw it!" and wore my little runner's tank, compression shorts, and running shorts over it. I didn't realize until I got home that I should have just worn the compression shorts...the running shorts over the top actually make me look BIGGER. Hopefully I got a little bit of a tan...however much I could get in 43 minutes.

Tomorrow is my weigh-in and measurement day! Then I'm off for the weekend. I'll probably post tomorrow morning, bright and early.
