Well, I tell you what, since I said that I was not going to get on the scale, i am just 'craving' to get on the scale. It is kinda scary...waiting for the unknown to happen.
www.fitday.com does help me keep track of my food along with the 65/30/5 ratio. I can see when I am not getting in enough food, so I will eat more in the evening time. It helps me plan my evening meal...and I don't go hungry that is for sure.

well, it is not easy NOT getting on the scale. I think when I was not worried about my weight, or just did not care, I could go weeks without stepping on it. Now that I am trying real hard to get this weight off I just want to keep getting on it. I am like an addict, I want what I want and I want it now.... I want this weight to be off NOW.
But I do live in reality and I know that it is not going to come off overnight or even in a month. It will take time. I did not put this weight on overnight.
The scale can be very discouraging though. You get on it one day and you are down 1 lb, or no weight loss, or you gained 2 pounds because it is that time of the month.

Well, I will just stay off of it...except on Fridays when I weigh in at work and on Tuesdays when I have to weigh in for a challenge.

So far so good. I even passed up the scale at the gym today!!

Hello all!!! I am joining this challenge.

I posted on the main forum that I am challenging myself to stay off the scale until March 1st. That's only 26 more days to go (i love that february's short! lol)

But, as I posted in my other thread...

This is the first time I've gone on any sort of plan where I honestly haven't felt like obsessing over the scale! Normally on any type of low-fat diet, I OBSESS over the scale, scale-hopping two, three, even four times a day.

But I've not been doing that this time around...In fact I've been concentrating a LOT more on actual health reasons as to WHY i'm doing this - not just my weight...which, granted, I want to go down (obviously) - but I'm not letting the scale dictate things this time around...

I know, for me - in the past - I'd jump on the scale, I'd see it NOT move and that would make me want to eat because I'd think "well, it's not moving anyways? why not?" which I know was rediculouse, but hey, i'm sure we've all been there.

But this time it seriously is DIFFERENT!
            I'm happy - I don't feel like i'm "dieting" whatsoever.
I'm taking vitamins that I know I should be taking (never been a vitamin person).
I can PROUDLY say I don't eat stuff that's bad for me and my condition (Insulin Resistance)
I can PROUDLY say I'm actually doing what I need to do NOW so that I DON'T end up diabetic like everyone in my family.
My clothes are fitting VERY loose (and i have a $75 kohls gift card from christmas I plan on using once i hit goal) and some of my "skinny" pants are starting to fit again...

            I absolutly LOVE this wol!
And I REFUSE to let the scale hinder me!!

ok, that's enough - back to work with me now.

I'm back! Once again, like clockwork the predictable cyclic dissapointment begins on the scale. I won't stand for it - I vow scalelessness again, at least till TOM's come and left for the month.

It feels odd not to have to scale in sight in the bathroom. On the one hand, I really miss it. Almost obsessively miss it.

On the other hand, it is such relief and freedom for it to be out of sight.

The thing that discouraged me most was hitting a mini goal weight -- like 159, then seeing that number go up and stay up for a couple of days as I obsessed about seeing that number again. Then there would be a new low and I would get all excited, only to see it disappear again for a couple of days.

I believe it will be a lot easier to relax and stay focused on eating right since I don't have the scale bedeviling me several times a day!

I know exactly what you mean Sunny.
Instead of putting focus on the scale. You will now focus on portion sizes on your plate and focus on getting more exercise. Also, you will focus on how your clothes are fitting. This is where the tape measure becomes a better friend than the scale as well.
I know the sence of freedom you speak of. When stepping away from the scale, it's amazing how one realizes how much control that metal monster had on our phyci. Good for you taking back the control of how the scale made you feel. You're the one in control, not the scale!

I must confess I haven't used the tape measure yet.

My face, arms, neck and legs are visibly thinner, but the mid-section doesn't appear to have budged. Well, maybe. I don't have to use an elastic extender in my jeans waist anymore.

I am exercising.... doing the Route 66 challenge.

Oddly enough, when I was on the scale all the time, it would make me anxious. If I gained I would want to eat more!

Anyway, I will break out the tape measure today and start tracking that way.

                              Sure do appreciate the encouragement!

                                Another scale-free day down.

I hadn't taken my measurements in a very long time, but when I took them this morning, they were all down from what I remembered. Significantly so!

My legs are really showing the difference. Maybe it's the bike riding?

I've been SO tempted to get out the scale and just take one little peek, but am feeling so free without it that it's not been a serious temptation.

I am a little concerned. My next weigh-in is Saturday and I am going to a party Friday night. I plan to eat a good dinner before I go so I won't be hungry, drink LOTS of water... and sneak a ziplock bag of legal chicken tenders in my purse in case of extreme emergency.
