  • Re: New YOU in the New Year's Challenge

Hi everyone! I had a little whooshie overnight! Thank the lord! lol I went from 139 down to 136.6 which is FAB going into Thanksgiving! Not that I'm betting on needing leeway because I plan on eating properly...I'm even baking...get this for self-control...TWO CORN CASSEROLES that my husband and I won't be eating but they were requested and we both want to bring something so while we bring those to them, we're making double batches of fauxtatoes for ourselves and my mom is making buttery string beans for us. One casserole is for my parents and one is for the SECOND meal later in the day at his parents. We've got it all planned out though so no sabotage. Heck, we may not even really eat at the second meal...his family is known for trying to sabotage by not really accommodating and we'll be coming from my parents house so unless we have time to go by our house and grab some Atkins friendly food, it could be difficult. But we'll be full and at least have fauxtatoes...so fauxtatoes and turkey will be fine.

Good Morning everyone; Congrats Kell, on the whooshy! Someday I'll have one
Norah, take some zinc with your vitamin C and be amazed. Feel better soon!
Razzle, I wholeheartedly agree with you! I believe that this WOE will help me lose weight if I watch what I'm eating and exercise in spite of the perimenopause. Besides, I'm not inclined to lay down and give up although I am inclined to grousing about it now and then ( heh, another perimenopausal issue). I've increased my walks to four miles a day although today is is cold and pouring out so it may be a Zumba day I can take cold but hatehatehate being cold and wet. I cut out the dairy to see if that was my problem and switched my guilty pleasure of a diet soda fix to a product that uses Splenda, thanks to Liss' recomendation. So we'll see if that does the trick on weigh and measure day this coming Sunday. If not? Well back to the drawing board.
Liss, how is your knee doing?

Norha, I hope you are feeling better today.

Kell - Right on, we love woshies =) And I can completely sympithize with you about people trying to ruin your diet, it sucks.

Sookie - Find an indoor excersize you can do while it is wet out....we don't want you to get the sniffles too =(

Razzle - Darlin, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Stick to a small thing for you to do everyday and if you do more then great...but you are going to keep beating yourself up for not climbing mountains everyday, and that will get very upsetting to you =( You are worth being happy, so make that happen =)

Oh, my knee.... It's okay I guess. I'm at that point where I don't care how much it hurts, I'm going to act like it doesn't. This Thursday will be three weeks post-op and I'm sick of being confined to a bed and some times the couch. I'm not putting weight on my leg, because that would be silly...but I am trying to do more me things...

I took pictures of my knee llast night, so I'll post a few. They are a little on the gross side, but I think it's sort of neat, lol... plus it looks alot better than it did before. =)

Hai guyz! Sorry I've been AWOL this week ... cold's all better (nipped it in the bud before it really got bad). Between whoosies, Thanksgiving and bum knees, I see y'all have kept busy ! Yes, I want to see your pics, Liss .... we can take it .

Ah yes, menopause. Whether natural or surgical, it does do a number on the old metab, but totally agree that eating properly and exercising can overcome the worst of it. Y'know, being a girl is difficult! Guys just don't realize what we're up against. I think every man should have to go through one menstrual cycle and a couple of hot flashes, for good measure. That would show 'em! Wussies ... they couldn't take it.

Good afternoon my fellow challengers! My Thanksgiving was great. I made the Sage Sausage Holiday dressing, and it was great! My family had no idea it wasn't real stuffing. The fauxtatoes were a big hit, and the quiches were great. The cheesecake was a bit too thick for me, but then again cheesecake always had been. And the pupmpkin pie....mmmmmmmmm. Most people went for the real pumpkin pie and I'm very happy about that because mine was AMAZING! So I have plenty for later..

Mym husband helped me stand on the scale yesterday morning. I didn't hold on to anything and I put as much weight on my right leg as I could stand. The scale read 286, so if that is true then I've losgt 10 pounds in three weeks. =)

I'm going to post pictures of my knee in my photo album with in the next hour or so. That way if you want to look you can but you're not forced to. My knee actually is looking alot better. I over did it a bit yesterday so I'm in a fair amount of pain now, but still doing loads better. I'm a pro with my walker now, lol, and I'm getting around alot better.

I'll post again when the pictures are up.

So what were you all thankful for yesterday?

Sorry for the continuing pain, Liss ... BUT, 10 lbs. lost in 3 weeks is awesome! I'm impressed!

Your Thanksgiving Day dishes make my mouth water! I'm thankful that my husband made it home in time to celebrate with me (he was out of town and I didn't expect him back until Turkey Day, but he showed up Wednesday, so yay for that) ... I have a confession, though: I ate BREAD STUFFING! Oh noes! Not a mountain of it, but still ... my willpower went buh-bye as it wafted past my nose on its way to my husband's plate. That was my only sin of the day, though. Fortunately, we had no pumpkin pie! Then there definitely would've been TWO turkeys that day ... me and the bird! Anyway, I did some extra walking today to compensate

Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Liss, you outdid yourself, as my husband would say, on the fabulous food you prepared. I could almost smell it!
Well, I had that cold that was going around and ironically, it worked for me because I couldn't smell or taste anything which made staying on Atkins a breeze this holiday. I did have a mini whooshie of 4 lbs but I suspect it was water weight since I haven't been exercising much this past few days since it was too hard to breathe with the cold. This week I'll start walking again and also begin doing ab work cause my abs have gotten the notion that they're supposed to be some sort of body insulation down around my hips.
Whoa, Liss 10 lbs, way to go! That should help your knee feel better.
Today we're supposed to get snow. Winter's coming!
