Congrats on starting anew and not giving up!! :icondance

Try not to get overwhelmed by it. Start small, promise yourself that you'll go three days without cheating.. at the very least!! And give it 100%Then in three days, see how you feel, and then make another promise to yourself!

Some mental tricks that helped me when I wanted to cheat was "I had 25 years to eat all the crap I could stuff my face with.. I can go at least three days without eating this crap".. or thinking "once I'm done eating this, it will only be a memory anyway.. why not pretend I ate it an hour ago and think that I only have the memory left!"

Those thoughts actually did help me a lot!! I hope you find the thing that helps motivate you the most! You can do it!

If you are using any of the low-carb products, like ATkins shakes etc, they are probably making you hungrier and doing you more harm then good! Best way to do it is a "clean" 2 week induction!

    Goodluck!

Thanks, I will remember those things. It's amazing what little mental tricks like that can do for you, I love it when ppl share them, thanks again. No not using any shakes or anything like that. I think I will do your suggestion and just make a 3 day goal to start, those are the hardest. Thanks for you help and suggestions, keep them coming :joy .

Well here I am checking in for the week! I lost 3 pounds and yet, not very much in inches so far this month! Hmmmm....that is unusual, usually my inches are chugging along. TOM might be "masking" my actual inches lost because of some water weight. I feel a bit puffy.

Anyhow, let's all keep up the great work by reminding ourselves how good that next smaller size of jeans is gonna feel come fall!

Have a great week everyone! :wave

*Chrleean-You can make it on clean induction for three days! Let us know how you're doing!

Hey guys, I am sooo impressed with how this thread has taken off and how many of you are on board!! Welcome everyone!!!!! When I first did Atkins in late 2003, this site was a major source of inspiration to me.

I have to report that I have been OFF the woe and have been eating nothing but comfort and junk food and lots of it. I'm turning to food to deal with depression, which sucks. I'm going to own up to the amount of weight I've gained - I'm at 250 now. :sadblinky

I'm hitting job burnout where I'm at, and now I have a family crisis happening, as my aunt who has been a breast cancer survivor for the past 2 years, has now been rediagnosed with cancer... it's all in her abdomen and the prognosis is very poor. I cannot imagine her not being in my life. She has two young sons, one who has been in college for a short time and the other who has another year to go before he graduates high school. And her husband, my mom's bro, is having a difficult time finding employment since he quit a year ago, even though he has a PhD. He is ever jovial, trying to crack jokes and keep the family in good spirits. I spent half the weekend sitting at the hospital, and the other half on the road. Needless to say I didn't eat anything healthy, and I ate too much. With this weekend, and the previous few weeks, I have gained a whole lot really fast and I'm disappointed... and that's an understatement.

BUT, like my aunt, I'm not going to give up. Things are very bad right now and I've spent a lot of time thinking of everything that could happen, preparing myself for the best... and the worst... and I'm going to get back to healthy eating, back to induction immediately. Keeping myself healthy mentally and physically is #1 right now, for me and for my family.

And last night I came up with a crazy idea to walk to raise money for breast cancer research. I don't know how far yet, or where to/from, but I know I want to do it... I feel I have to. Being healthy is important for that.

So guys... here's the official new weigh-in, Sunday night June 19...

            250. On the way to ====> 200.

I am still in this!! Don't give up on me yet!! ha

              SO, I'm on my way...

:wave I behaved all week and then sucumbed to a piece ( :sadblinky a LARGE piece) of Father's Day cake that was being served to hubby and son. After crawling up out of the pit of 'enjoying it too much and then wallowing in guilt', I beat the guilt into submission and moved on. In spite of my slip, I did lose ONE pound this week.

-1, CHRLEEANN: down to 224 for the challenge. Hope you are having a good week. If you aren't successful with 3 days, remember....we live AND EAT one day at a time.. that might work in the end.

STEPHIESUE: So sorry to hear about your troubles. It is very hard to watch bad things happen to those we love, when we can't fix everything up. I think that your plan to make yourself heathier, and goal to honour your Aunt is a good one. Wishing for STRENGTH for you in the upcoming days.. :hug

StephieSue; I can tell from your stats that you are very determined and do not give up easily!! You may fall down, but you get back up!! I'm sorry to hear about all the troubles you are having. I know it sometimes feels pointless to worry about what we're eating when our lives are spinning out of control. But if you think that sticking to this WOE will make you healthier and happer, then having control on this one aspect of your life will fill you with strength even when you feel powerless about everything else. I wish you and your family the best! We won't give up on you here

                        • Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your kind thoughts. I came back to work today, and it's tough being at the office when I'd rather be with my aunt, but somebody's got to pay the bills at my house and that's me. But no matter how much I wanted to yesterday, I steeled myself to temptation (boy was it strong) and kinda tried to get back into that mindset of how much better it feels to eat this way. I mean, eating the other way... I always felt like I had bricks in my stomach after a meal. Blahh.

Chrleeann, I like your chart there, thanks for doing that.

Okay... day 2 of week one... drinking tons of water... Sunday weigh-in, here I come!
