Although our baby is mostly pit bull, DH and I do believe she has some Lab in her (the pit bull part is very obvious around the top of the nose).

We got "Girl" in May, 2005. Some friends of ours were moving to a place that didn't allow pets.

Previously, we had a poodle named Penny. She was a miniature (didn't weigh more than 12 pounds) and her coloring, although it was officially called "Apricot" looked more like a beige color. DH's grandparents got her when she was 1 year old (in 1979). After his grandfather passed away in 10/87, we took her in (DH's grandmother was in ill health). Penny died in June, 1996 (age - 18 years, 4 months) in my arms. The vet used to call her either Timex (keeps on ticking) or the Eveready (SP?) battery. The day after she passed (it was late at night), we took her to the vet and DH insisted I stay in the car. When he came out, I saw that he was crying (one of the rare times that I've seen him do that).

I love Pit bulls to. I have seen some big babies, as well as some mean ones. But, I can not get homeowners insurance if I ahve a pit bull or Rotty. My cousin has 2 rotty's that are the biggest babies, I have ever seen. BUt, here in Maine they will void your homeowners policy...YIKES!!

I've heard about the insurance thing. We spoke to a friend of ours, who is a local lawyer, and he said since she is a mixed breed, just state that for insurance purposes.

Talking of Rottweilers, I would love one too, but again, with insurance and all...My friend has two and they're the biggest softies in the world.

Lisa, we have a Bichon, too! This is Harrington -- he's 9 years old. The kitty is Annie -- she's 6. They're not usually this friendly with each other, so I had to take a picture to prove that they were actually sitting on the same sofa with no hissy fits!

Okay, we have eight pets in all....

First, the guinea pig with only three feet (and they won't give me a discount on her nail trimmings - can you believe it???) Her name is Stumpy.

Then there's the African Albino Swimming Frog who stays in my classroom during the schoolyear. Her name was Gus, but she laid eggs so now she's Gusita. They can live up to 30 years! She reaches out of the water with her little fingers and grabs the food from you. My students love to feed her.
