Yes we get snow every year I live in Birmingham(town)wher its not too heavy so they dont drop street salt but in London its snowed alot and nearby Scotland is freezing -16 and heavy snow even the river there has ice in it shown on the news.
Supermarkets etc are using salt in car parks and at schools.

Ok, there is still freezing rain coming down. They said on the news most areas have .35" of ice on the ground. The trees look amazing---they are totally covered with ice, and are sparkling in the night light. We are still expecting winds to develop over night and tomorrow of 35 mph.

There were 3 big accidents. On one highway 22 cars were involved, and the other two were also on a HW, one 10 cars, one 12 cars. But luckily no one was seriously injured. This is supposed to last until Friday when it warms a little and it turns into rain. They are all these strange sounds outside the house. I kept hearing sounds like something was falling, I thought something fell in a closet or something. Now I realize it must be sheets of ice falling off the roof, and sometimes it is hitting the windows also.

I agree... ice is so dangerous! Hope the ice doesn't cause you to miss out on posting your mail to Father Christmas, Mission!!!

Sham too, in the UK, sounds hard hit. I see the UK weather on Sky News... makes me shivver to watch.

Today better here... warm, but grey and dull. My animals are happier now it's warmer (dog, cats, goats, doves).

Well we still have everything set in ice. I am going to try to get out and take some pictures around the house if I get a chance. It looks so pretty seeing everything encased in ice.

Last time I tried to post a photo it didn't work, wish my "techy" sons were here to help.

We are having deep freeze again. It got decent a few days ago and I was even running outdoors but now it is back to cold. It looks very frozen outdoors.

mission - sounds like you have it worse than us. We are ice covered, but quickly melting. I haven't watched the local news, so not sure how the night went; it was pretty slippery last night.

We have family traveling from the south, so keeping fingers crossed that the warm weather comes your way!

Hi everyone, How are you all doing?

I went outside in regular shoes and walked on the snow covered with ice and didn't even get the shoes wet, the snow is so frozen it is like walking on plastic snow!

I took some close-ups of a tree that still has red berries on it, and you can see the ice covering on the branches and berries, and also a picture of the backyard deck. The whole railing has two rows of 3" icicles hanging from the top of the side railing and the horizontal rail. It is so pretty.

They are still flashing Weather Warnings across the TV screen about the continued ice storm, and later tonight tomorrow, flooding as it turns to rain when it warms up a little.

OK, it warmed up and the rains came and washed away the ice Wednesday night, and then today in the late afternoon it started snowing and sleeting again and the temp has dropped under 20 degrees. And snow expected Sat and Sun.

Wow mission! It is very cold in Illinois!!
I live in North Carolina and it snowed a bit last week (4 inches is a bit to us) and the snow is almost completely gone. it's been raining A LOT lately and of course, turns to ice at night. It is certainly cold here too but not below 20 degrees.

It rained yesterday here too and all the ice has melted.Its not as cold as before so thats good.

Well---Chicago---Western suburbs: Yesterday they predicted a few inches of snow.
As of 1 hour ago, I measured 12" with a yardstick at three different places on the driveway. The plow service has not come yet, but that's ok, I have no where to go, I have enough Atkins food to last days and days, and it is better that he comes after the snow stops.

It is still falling down hard. You can hardly see out the window.


This is crazy!!!
