  • Hi I am new and would like to join

    Hi all,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
My name is Renie and from Australia.

    I am 150lb today morning.

I started it today and this is what I did.

I had hard boiled egg for the breakfast.
    Lunch- Chicken salad
    Dinner- Tuna with Mayo

Had two coffee (sorry I had to drink that).

I will be heading to the exercise bicycle now and promise will be there for 30 minutes.

I drank 12 glasses of water.

Have I done every thing right? Please comment.

Welcome, Renie! Sounds like you are off to a good start -- just a couple of things:
    1) Eat your veggies. You should have 20 grams of carbs per day, mostly from veggies.
    2) If you haven't already, read Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition). Lots of great information there. In the meantime, read the "stickies" (posts with little post-it notes on them at the top of each forum), especially in the Induction Forum.

    Best of luck to you!

            Thanks sweeties...

First of all I would love to say I am 148 today. So 2lb down.

Yes I just read the book. I will eat my vegies today.

Today is 15th July and right now 11.00 A.M. I want to go for a walk but it is freezing out there (and raining) I have to find out something to get going.

I will eat my vegies today and will post what ate at the end of the day.

Re: Hi I am new and would like to join

                      Hi Renie,

I don't believe toast is on the approved foods list, even if it is low-carb. Try to stick to the Induction list of foods. It only helps you in the long run. Otherwise, you may be tempted to fall off the bandwagon if your carb cravings persist. You can add other foods when you move onto later phases.

It still doesn't seem like you're eating a whole lot, even though you have improved your veggie intake. As suggested in DANDR, you should get 20 NET carbs a day (no less and no more), of which 12-15 should come from veggies on the approved foods list. Also remember... even though you aren't counting calories, your caloric intake should be at LEAST 1500 to fend off that nasty starvation mode. A good tool to use to help you keep track of carbs, fiber, and calories is fitday.com. I use it all the time. Good job on adding exercise. That's awesome! Also, good job on avoiding the coffee. It only helps in the long run.

You're doing awesome! Improve some things and keep at it!

Sounds good! Look forward to reading it. Congrats on the one pound! And when you shop for meat today, make sure it's the full-fat kind! I know it sounds weird, but we don't want to do a low-fat version of Atkins... it just wouldn't work.

                            Hi there,

I wish my computer was with me. I went and bought the lean pork. OMG. poor me. K No Worries, I will deep fry them. LOL

Nick, yes it sounds bit weird and I am bit scared about the fat. I always went for less fat food. Well the question comes y I am overweight? I love carbs and sugar. I don't have high cholestrol or sugar and I dont want to have them either. Now I am bit worried.

                            My daily menu

Breakfast: 3 egg omelette ( I used only one egg yolk)
                            2 rashes of bacon.
                            White coffee

                            Lunch:
                            Satay Chicken
Lemon Chicken ( I told them not to add the lemon sauce)
                            vegetable salad with dressing

                            Dinner:
                            Chicken nuggets
                            steamed vegetables
                            white coffee

( Oh I had to lick a tea spoon of Mango Chutney as it was the only thing I could find sweet in my fridge *** I know I was bad)
I had 9 glasses of water so far.

                            Waiting for the comment.

Do you have the book yet? Actually that may be more important than the veggies!.

Toast is out. No bread at all till much much later. And then low carb. 1/2 avacado is allowed on induction. (I always think thats a shame cause itis hard to keep the other half from turning brown till next day LOL, but you could use it to make guacamole with some lemon juice to save it)

Your next post mentions chicken nuggets. Are they breaded? Can't have the breading. The chicken Satay and Lemon chicken, if from a restaraunt may be loaded with hidden carbs. Most of the sauces used (Satay) are higher carb and contain sugars unless made at home.

If you have urges for something sweet, try an ounce or two of cream cheese sweetened witha bit of splenda. You are allowed 2-3 packs of splenda a day. Also a couple of olives will curb the sweet cravings.

                              Best wishes!
