  • Dannette - New to Atkins - Induction phase

    183/178/135

Hello all, just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I have just completed week one of Atkins and am a little discouraged. I only lost 5 lbs on induction which I've noticed is considered normal but I just felt like it should've been more. I'm in moderate to high ketosis and have followed the diet to a tee so hopefully next week will be better.

Way to go! Even if you lose the same next week that's still 10 pounds/two weeks! I am almost finished week two and have lost 6 pounds. I need to keep better count of what I'm eating but no carb cheats here. I'm happy with the loss I would love to just drop off like 40lbs fast but down is better than up at any speed. Let yourself have the victory baby!

You don't have that much to lose so you wont have a huge loss in Induction. Considering your starting weight 5 pounds is a terrific loss. If you are in deep ketosis it sometimes means you are not drinking enough water. The sticks being darker does not mean you are losing faster. You may want to up your water. If you do, the stix may not be as dark but you may find you lose even faster.

I definately take in alot of water but I'm wondering if I have too little fat or if the sugar free jello and sugar free whipped cream (with splenda) could be impacting it. I still lost weight the first 3 days and I was eating only the whipped cream. I lost 3 lbs the first 3 days and only 2 for the last 4 and the only thing I added was the jello and some tuna. I really have a sweet tooth so I need something to help with the cravings so I can make it thru this phase of the lifestyle. I would really appreciate a recipe for sugar free jello that we can have during this phase of the program.

          >> if I have too little fat or>

How much fat are you getting?

          >>I really have a sweet tooth so I need something to help with the cravings >>

What you REALLY need is to not feed your cravings! Honest. Feeding your cravings won't help you get rid of them.

The s/f jello and the sweetened whipped cream aren't helping you.

Also ... cream doesn't need to be sweetened.

How many vegetables are you eating?

          What's "a lot" of water?

            There is a recipe her

Try to use some flavour powder with splenda rather than aspartame.

Re: Dannette - New to Atkins - Induction phase

Thanks for the recipe, I will definately check it out. I don't really care to much for vegetables so I have had problems finding stuff to eat. I get to where I would rather starve than eat what I have been eating. I'm trying cabbage today but have been eating spinach, avacado's, green beans and asparagus. I know I'm not getting anywhere near the recommended carbs for the day (usually around 10 or so). I've also noticed that before I was really thirsty and now that is gone (along with my appetite) and I have to make myself drink water as it was when I first started the diet (my thirst is gone and I was thirsty all the time until the day before yesterday). My ketostix is purple and I am working out 3 to 4 times a week. I've lost 6 lbs and am on day 9. I need more vegetable ideas (hopefully that are tasty). Please help!

I agree with killing your sweet tooth. I can't imagine anyone being able to stay on this plan long term if they keep their sweet cravings going. That would be horrible.

Well my thirst came back today so I guess that part is better. My sugar cravings are definately better but still not gone and I haven't cheated at all. I lost another lb when I woke up this morning so that's definately a plus.

I know but many keep it going by feeding it sweets. I know personally I wouldn't live a lifestyle that had me craving 24/7 for the rest of my life. Others might be able to but I wouldn't do it. Luckily I don't have sugar cravings anymore so it's all good

Well I've definately kicked the sweet tooth but am having problems with my appetite but it's definately better than being fat. I'm having problems eating anywhere near 20 carbs so other than that I think I'm doing pretty good. Oh and I've had mild leg cramps. I bought some calcium with magnesium in it to go along with my multi-vitamins. I have some fish oil to to help with the omega 3. I'm not really sure if I'm taking the right vitamins though. I drink 5 or 6 22 ounce cups daily of water. Any input is appreciated. Sorry for so many questions, I just don't want to mess this up. I want to feel good in my own skin again. My current weight is 177lbs.
