Re: Looking to Hit the Ground Running

You tell yourself if it's nitrate/nitrite free!
From what I gathered by the link.. I should stick with the "All Natural" line that Boar's Head offers. Although they do not have a wide selection.

So let me ask this. All this food I have purchased, Is it a waste? Being as though it has all types of solution and nitrate. Is eating this not gonna make me lose the weight as fast? Or lose it at all?

Please answer from a weight loss point of view and not so much from a health perspective.

No, it's not a waste. Lots of people eat cold cuts and lose.

      Crystal ball hazy.

Bottom line, who knows what will affect YOU and what won't.

Why can one person eat an apricot and be fine and another can't?

We've all bought things we didn't intend to ... I got "burned" on fresh chicken once, having a "solution". I just make sure it doesn't happen again.

Atkins is not about losing weight "fast" (I know, you don't want to hear that, but it's the truth).

Hopefully you're learning some of the pitfalls and what you have to do in the future.

You also get to decide how "clean" you want your food. Some people don't want any chemicals. If I could afford it, I'd probably eat all organic and grass fed beef.

Can somebody tell me if there is anything wrong with this picture?

Without knowing what's behind those numbers, it's hard to make an informed comment.

That being said, you don't have enough net carbs. You should be closer to 20 net.

I'm at 11.5 net carbs with that photo right. So I need about 8-8.5 more net carbs correct?

Also does anything look too high or too low in the pic below?

Re: Looking to Hit the Ground Running

It depends what foods you ate and in what quantities. Showing us graphs and charts doesn't tell that.

In the RDA graph, you can see yourself which vitamins and minerals are low.

Are you taking a multivitamin without iron?

That would be the math. Are most of your net carbs coming from Induction vegetables? What's the food behind the numbers? You could make your Fitday public.

Not enough vegetables. Lots of processed meats, but you knew that. Why only one egg? And you should enter "egg, whole, raw" rather than poached. You don't know what Fitday might add to the cooked version.

Only one egg because I had a lot of meat with it.

Also is Nature's Way Alive! a good brand of multi-vitamin or is there better out there?

You should have had some vegetables, too. Atkins isn't a lot of meat. You really do need to read the book.

Never heard of that brand of vitamins. I uses generic.

Re: Looking to Hit the Ground Running

I just wanted to make a quick comment here. You are getting fantastic advice here form Georgiana and Atkinsgal. I would do exactly as they suggest, no shortcuts, and it sounds like you are! Good for you.

Please do keep in mind... Atkins cannot be a temporary fix and let me explain why. As soon as you lose all your weight that you want to and decide that you can maintain it on your own and move away from Atkins, you WILL gain it all back. Quickly. You mentioned wanting to lose the weight in order to join the services. You must realize that they have weight checks all the time. Monthly or more. Of course, your activity level will increase quite a bit so maybe that will help you to round out your prior, poor eating habits.

On the other hand, if you really read the book with an open mind, you may find that it is an eating plan that works very well for you. Take a look at the foods you can eat at the end of the rungs... the maintenance for life. Is that something that you can live with long term? I sure could. Especially with the chow hall providing meals (tons of meats and salads and eggs, etc). Just something to consider is using Atkins for life. That way you will KEEP off the weight you will lose.

Trust me. I have been there. Lost all the weight on Atkins by staying under 20 per day, reached goal (fast!) then said what do I eat now? Gained it ALL back in two or three months. NOT a good feeling. Plus, being in the services, it would be particularly sad to lose your job over it.

what the rungs mean to me:
                              rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                              rung 4 - berries, melon
                              rung 5 - wine -
                              rung 6 - beans, hummus
                              rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                              Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
                              (on to pre-maintenance)
