Carole, I don't know how many calories working the spreader uses, but you can be sure it is keeping your metabolism humming at top speed.

      Re: I re-start 3/16/09

I spent 2 hours raking leaves in the backyard and getting them in recycle sacks for Friday pickup. That was a lot of bending (squats) plus the raking action. It did a real number on my shoulder but it's done. Also rode the bike 10 miles. I had talked myself into a nap this afternoon but after I laid there 20 minutes tossing and turning I got up and got on the bike. I took a TV tray and put the legs through the handlebars and it worked - I have a table to put my water jug, I was reading the DANDR book again and had the TV controls on there. Since I wasn't laying over the handlebars had had something to keep my mind occupied the 10 miles were no problem.

After I finished riding the bike I decided to go out and get the leaves raked up - never thinking it would take 2 hours. It was 74 and just a light breeze, so it was a perfect day to be outdoors. I need to go get another bunch of recycle bags because I still need to go the East side of the house, but not today.

The corned beef and fried cabbage are on the stove smelling wonderful! I think I'm looking forward to this more than I loved boiled meal.

I need to talk to Charlie about getting the landscaping done this year. I was only going to have the front yard done, but have decided to do the whole yard with our tax return. I have money saved to buy a tree for the backyard to hopefully get some shade so we don't sit here and fry again this year. I also want to get a storm door for the door going to the backyard so we can have the inside door open and get a breeze inside without bugs!

Will be back to post my daily food. I'm glad I've restarted induction - I needed this.

        Re: I re-start 3/16/09

ok - here is how today shook out:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs w/scant amount of cheese & hot sauce - 30oz water 1 cup coffee w/splenda & 1 oz raw zucchini

Lunch: 3 oz turkey & cheese mixed with mayo wrapped in a lettuce leaf - 1 oz zucchini & 3 radishes sliced 30 oz water

AFTERNOON -- 30 oz water while working in yard

        Snack: blood sugar low around 5:30 -- 1oz turkey w/mayo & 30 oz water

Dinner: 4 oz corned beef, 1 cup fried cabbage & 1/4 cup broccoli & cauliflower, mixed salad w/2Tbsp Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. 30 oz water & 1 cup coffee.

        Total 19.8

I won't be having a flax cookie tonight but that's ok -- maybe tomorrow. Dinner was fantastic! Probably one of my absolute favorite meals of all time. I could smell the corned beef cooking when I was in the yard - it really made it hard to stay outdoors because I wanted to come in and eat!!

Mom is having a relapse of the virus that's been getting her....she was ok this morning and about noon she had to go laydown. She slept from noon until 4:00 -- she laid down again after dinner for about an hour. She's running a lowgrade fever again also....wish we could get this out of her system!

        Day 2 was a success I feel!

            Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Finally finished raking the yard, it rained on me a couple times but I persevered and finished!

My total for today was 21.3 -- over but still within reason. I had the shakes again this afternoon when I came in from raking so I had an unexpected piece of celery w/cream cheese. I've also had additional water to help flush nasties out....

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs w/scant amount of cheese & hot sauce, 3 slices of bacon - 30 oz water & 1 cup coffee w/splenda

            30 oz water during morning

Lunch: 3 oz corned beef scant amount of swiss cheese, 1Tbsp mayo, 1 large radish, 1 oz cucumber, 1/2 cup fried cabbage, 30 oz water

Snack: 1 stalk celery w/cream cheese & 30 oz water

Dinner: Stuffed Green Pepper (Linda's), salad, 3 oz cauliflower, 30 oz water, cup of coffee w/splenda.

Snack: Flax Cookie (shouldn't have had this -- put me over for the day - but I thought I wanted something sweet). with cup of plain coffee

            30 oz water watching TV.

One thing about induction - I'm always regular! It has been raining all night, suppose to rain tomorrow also, so I'll have to find something inside to do -- maybe clean the garage.

              Re: I re-start 3/16/09

              Day 4

Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs, 2 oz ham & scant cheese

Lunch: turkey salad (3 oz turkey, 1 Tbsp mayo & 1/2 dill pickle) for lunch - ate it on romaine leaves, had 2 oz cauliflower, 2 radishes and 1 oz fried (in butter) zucchini.

Dinner: grilled hamburgers with 1 oz cheddar/swiss cheese and 4 slices of pepperoni on top - yum! Fried radishes, cheese chips and a salad w/Hidden Valley Ranch. Good dinner.

I've had 100 oz of water today and not as much exercise as I'd like but wasn't able to function all morning thanks to a migrane. Cleaned half the garage this afternoon & moved recycle sacks (leaves) and recycle bin out to the street for pickup in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Sorry to hear about the migraine, Carole.

You have REALLY been working hard the past few days. Maybe you need a rest day or two?

                Take care of yourself!!!

                  Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Today was another full one. Since I restarted induction I've gotten my energy back - yea! I spent 3 hours cleaning the garage today - it was so dirty and what I did yesterday just looked ridiculous so I started over and got it done the right way. It looks so nice now - I swear I could almost rent it out or live out there myself!

Had to go mail my niece's birthday card (missed the postlady) so while I was out I got gas for the mower and stopped and had the car washed -- it must be a law somewhere that if you clean your garage you must have a clean car to put back in it! LOL

I went a little overboard today but my calories were lower than normal....I swear my tastebuds have changed so much since I've started Atkins.

                  Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs w/2oz ham & scant cheese - 30oz water & 1 cup coffee w/splenda

                  Lunch: turkey salad, 2oz cauliflower, 2oz zucchini & 2 radishes + 1 Tbsp dip - 30oz water

Dinner: fried radishes w/onion & corned beef (corned beef hash with a twist), 6 brussel sprouts and 2oz broccoli, 4 cheese chips. 30oz water & 1 cup coffee w/splenda.

I was hoping to have a flax cookie tonight but I'm over by a long shot at 25 carbs, so that's it for the night!

I took some pics today of the food I was eating....it all tasted good! I shouldn't have had the brussel sprouts for dinner! That was my undoing for the day. Tomorrow I'll be back at 20 carbs!

                  this was lunch

Carole, I really loved the photos! Thanks for posting them!!!

I haven't tried the fried radishes yet. I plan on doing it today. Am looking forward to it.

I fried yellow squash, bok choy and green onion together in butter last night. It was a nice change.

yes Lynne -- the meal was my version of corned beef hash. I fried radishes with onions and when they were done I added 2 oz corned beef (from the can).....mom & DH ate the real version of hash so we all ate the same thing .... sort of!! LOL It was delicious

Woke up early this morning and started the laundry....by the time mom got up I had 2 loads done. We went to the store for a few things (mostly water) then had a nice lunch.....came home, did another load of laundry, made dinner, took a walk and had a flax cookie!!! It's not even 8:00 and I'd like to go to bed...full day!

                          Breakfast: 2 soft boiled eggs w/butter - 2 oz ham - water & coffee w/splenda

Lunch: Chicken breast w/1Tbsp mayo and side salad w/Ranch dressing, water

1 slice pastrami and water for a snack about 4:30

Dinner: grilled pork steak, creamed turnips, 6 asparagus spears and a salad w/Ranch dressing.

1 Flax cookie (finally figured out to microwave it 2 minutes --- not 3-1/2 when I can use 2 Tbsp flaxmeal....this one wasn't burnt!)

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.......for the past couple weeks after I eat any meal my mouth feels numb....it doesn't happen with 1 particular food because it happens everytime I eat........was wondering if anyone else had this feeling, or maybe it's something to do with diabetes? Don't know
