    Re: Mary Ann's Journey

I am finally off night shift.I was reading the OWL list. I have another week of Induction and I feel comfortable with it. If I read this correctly, I am to add more veggies but only 5 carbs, correct? What if I stall out? Would I have to go back to Induction again?

MaryAnn, plateaus are normal. You can go 3 or 4 weeks without losing anything, then the next week you might have a big loss.

A lot of times when the scale doesn't move, your body is just adapting to the change. You still may be losing inches.

No, you shouldn't go back to induction again. The reason I went back to induction was that my eating was out of control and I needed the discipline, but it is generally not a good idea.

Yes, on OWL 1, you add 5 grams of veggies and see how you react to them. Some say add them only 3 days a week the first week, then every day the next week.

It sounds like you'll be able to better track your food intake on days! good luck, that must be tough working overnight.

          Re: Mary Ann's Journey

I messed up this evening. I am definitely an emotional eater.. I don't want to gain back the weight I lost. I go back to work tomorrow, so I went ahead and packed my meals for work. (all good). I could just kick myself when I do this.

MaryAnn, what separates winners from losers is that winners pick themselves up and keep moving forward when they fall.

You sound like a winner to me.

Have you looked at the legal dessert recipes here and at Linda's site? When you hit one of those emotional eating attacks, you won't do yourself much harm if you stick to the legal things. And some of them taste so good, they satisfy that need even better than the illegal stuff.

Glad you are back on track!

Mary Ann - when you have that urge to eat something bad take an ounce (or two if you have enough carbs) microwave for 20-30 seconds to soften it, then put some cinnamon and a packet of splenda and stir it up -- it tastes wonderful. Or instead of cinnamon add vanilla extract -- it tastes like ice cream.

Another sweet thing for me is a flax cookie....it's a little sweet, crunchy and keeps me regular!! If you need the recipe let me know!

                Re: Mary Ann's Journey

Take an ounce of what?? You got me curious now.Today I bought a pair of size 12 jeans. My jeans are baggy in the butt and legs, I wish the stomach would go away. I need to exercise to get rid of it. I dread that.

                          Re: Mary Ann's Journey

I'm disappointed. Today is my last day of Induction and I thought I was doing pretty good. I lost 5 lbs. I got up this morning and I was back up 2 lbs. Where does this come from? I don't want to bounce from one diet to the next. I wan to find something that I can do everyday. I'm past the sugar cravings. I just don't get it.

MaryAnn, it is probably water weight. It could be from any number of sources.

Give it a couple of days, then weigh again, and I bet it will be gone again.

If it's not, we'll try to help figure out what's causing your problem.

                              Re: Mary Ann's Journey

it happens from time to time -- I've read a lot of people have that problem...they will bob up a pound or two then will loose 3 or 4 and they aren't cheating it's just something their bodies do.

Don't give up and don't skip to the next diet, that won't work, if you aren't happy with the plan I can understand you leaving but a small setback isn't worth throwing it all away. It took you more than 14 days to gain the weight, it will take longer that 14 days to loose the weight. It's not a quick fix you have to work at it...it will be ok in a couple days -- give it a chance please!
