Re: Spring Cooking Challenge Guys Come One!!!

Heidi, I'm still trying to think of some way to make a crispy shell for your spring rolls. Is there some sort of root vegetable you could cut very thin on your mandolyne and wrap the goodies in, and deep fry that might come out to the same consistency?

Perhaps turnip? I don't know how that fries up, or what the taste would be like, but I have seen recipes for making "chips" with them. It's too bad the water content in cabbage wouldn't allow for it getting crispy...maybe some other sort of "green" vegetable? I think I saw something once about frying Kale...but it would look very ugly.

What about coconut...could you get it ground fine enough to make a powder, then add something to bind it together and roll out...maybe then dry it in the oven a little, or chill somehow to get it to bind....

That would definitely give it an exotic flavor...

I just had a thought too...what about sausage casing?? Put your shredded veggies/meat into the sausage casing and roll it in something and then fry or bake??

So Heidi, where are my breakfast cookies!!! I hope it worked out better after the first batch. And I'm gearing up to re-induct starting Sunday so I'm looking for some recipes, could you PM me the recipe for your induction cheesecake? Maybe I can put some eggs in if it masked the flavour enough
