  • Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!

I found this recipe on the recipezar.com site, and modified it just a little. But anyways here it is.

    Hamburger Pie

    2lbs of ground beef(lean)
    1 package of cream cheese
    2 tsp yellow mustard
    2 tsp horseraddish
    garlic powder to taste
    salt and pepper to taste
    dehydrated onions to taste

1st combine cream cheese, mustard, and horseraddish, garlic powder, salt and pepper, and dehydrated onions in a mixing bowl. Smooth it all out so when its done it will be a creamy yellow almost like the consistancy of the yolk of deviled eggs. Put aside, and split beef in half. Make a large hamburger patty and put into a round cooking dish(or square if you dont have round). Sprinkle with some salt and pepper and spread cream cheese mixture over the hamburger patty and take the other half of beef and make into another patty. Put on top of the patty with the cream cheese mixture and pinch the sides closed sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 325 for 55 min or until well done. Slice like a pie and enjoy!

I always get a whooshie after eating this!

I made this tonight and I have to say.....ITS WONDERFUL! Of course I forgot to get horseradish while at the grocery store....and kinda made half the recipe. I cooked a little onion on the stove and a little minced garlic and it was good.

I'm really hoping wooshie comes now!!!

            Thanks OP for the recipe!

                Wow... sounds yummy!

                Is it safe for induction?

How much is one package of cream cheese?

there's nothing that isn't induction friendly, so I shouldnt see why not. The dried onions may be a problem; they have 4.16 carbs PER TABLESPOON. But you can omit them; use a dash of onion powder or a sprinkling of green onion (make sure they arent from mexico) and there you go.

Should be good. It smelled good when I made it but I never got a chance to eat it as I have been sick.

                  oh well.

I made it in the microwave, and it looked kind of odd (like a meat loaf covered with stroganoff sauce. But... oh my! The family ate what I fixed and then went back and scraped the bowl and begged for more!

I served it with green beans and mushrooms and almonds as a side dish, and it was satisfying (no hunger pangs... a biggie with me) and SO tasty! This one's a REAL keeper!

I finally made this after seeing it talked about for ages, and we quite enjoyed it.
Next time though, I'm going to use less cream cheese, maybe only use 6 ounces instead of the full 8, and I'm going to play around with the flavourings. This recipe gave me all sorts of ideas and I'm looking forward to trying them all out.

I was thinking about sauteeing up some mushrooms and shallots or garlic and layering them on top of the cheese before you close it up. Or leeks, or fennel even.
Or adding cumin, oregano, and chili powder to the cream cheese for a mexican slant.

I tried this last night and woke up this morning to a 2 pound whoosh!! I still have some left over, so that will be dinner tonight, too. This will definitely be a staple from now on!
