I served it with a cup of salad with a little cubed avacado and a lime vinegarette dressing that I made. My wife topped hers with a spoon of sour cream that I skipped since I am on induction.

It was outstanding so give it a try if you like southwestern food.
Oooh, now yours sounds really good! Can I ask how much of each for your taco seasoning??

Also, off-topic...What have you got there for hardware in your avatar?

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!

      Hi tmn,

I dont use any measuring spoons but I estimate that I used about 2 rounded tbsp of chili powder, 1 tbsp paprika, 1 tsp of cumin, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder for a 2.25 lb package of 93/7 ground meat. The cream cheese has about 2/3 cup plus 1 tsp oregano mixed in. I think next I will put a layer of roasted poblano peppers between the meat patties next time.

Next will be an italian version and maybe a kicked up creole version.

The hardware is a Infinity 38 super open gun. Infinity firearms is a very high end custom gunbuilder that specializes in custom competition guns. I was offered a position on the Infinity shooting team 2 weeks ago, so I am now an officially sponsered shooter now. Check out www.sviguns.com and you can see the hardware.

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!

I'm by no means the worst cook in the world, and by that, I mean that I'm worse than the worst work in the world. I made this tonight, and maybe I made the patties too thick, but the middle of the pie was still pinkish, so it ended up having to get cooked an additional 25 mins. Anywho, It was ok...assuming I made the thing correctly (getting back to the worst cook in the world thing) I'm hoping for a whooshie tomorrow!

This sounds good, but I'm not crazy about horseradish. Any ideas for substitutions? Or would it be OK to just leave out the horseradish?
                  Thanks

It would be ok for the recipe...but it's the horseradish that gives you the whooshie, I believe.

I bought the ingredients so I can cook this tomorrow. I've never bought fresh horseraddish. It looks like a big root. Should it? And do I grate or just chop up in small pieces?

I have never used fresh where you had to grate it yourself but what I have heard is you pretty much need a mask while working with it. I just as soon buy the grated in the jar.

Occasionally the whoosh comes two days after eating the pie rather than the day after. But .5 lb with TOM coming is great!
