  • Yoly's P90X challenge

Hello all, i wanted to start a challenge for anyone out there who has or may be doing P90X. It is a killer workout that is totally kicking my butt and I hope I won't have to go through this torture alone.

Sigh, if no one else is doing it I will carry the torch alone.

    Here are my commitments:

    1) I will follow the classic workout which includes several days of Cardio, Yoga and weight training based on the P90X workout.

    2) I will workout every day that I am supposed to for 90 days.

    3) I will come here routinely and post about my progress, what I find challenging and what modifications I need to make.

Ok so that's it, if anyone wants to join in feel free. If not, feel free to leave me comments, cheer me on, I'm sure I'll need the encouragement and support.

    Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

This morning I did YogaX, I thought I was going to die but thank goodness it's over. I didn't realize how hard it was going to be and so I'm sure next week I will be making all kinds of excuses to myself of why I shouldn't do it. It's important for me to remember the benefits and keep pushing play.

90 minutes of Yoga done for the day - Check

Had lots of protein for breakfast and about to drink 1.5 liters of water.

Since I didn't start this challenge until day 4 I will quickly post a review of the week and the workouts I have done so far.

I originally started with the Lean program which has different workouts, but after some direction from P90X graduates on their message forum I am moving over to the Classic program next week.

Day 1) Core Synergistics - all kinds of moves to work from your chest to pelvic bone
Day 2) Cardio X - high energy, high impact, I was dripping by the time i was done
Day 3) Shoulders and Arms, for shoulders I stuck to mostly 5 to 6 pounds, biceps 7 to 8 and triceps 6-7. I plan on moving up once I get all the moves down.
On this day I was supposed to do Ab Ripper but forgot, and ran out of time so will get it in either tonite or on my rest day
Day 4) The previously mentioned 90 minute YogaX, definatly the hardest so far.

Tomorrow is legs and Back, plus Ab Ripper X. This consists of using a pull up bar for pull ups, I can't even say how unenthusiastic I am about THAT.

    Wish me luck.

Yeay, that would be great. I know that it would be so helpful to have someone to work out with.

              Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

oh no way, I think I would die if it was three hours! It's about an hour every day six days a week, except Yoga that is 90 minutes, that one is a killer!

Wow, so I guess we were working out at the same time, that's nice. I got up a little later then usual and ended up working out from 6:30 - 7:30. Today was legs and back, so we were doing a ton of one legged squats, lunges with your foot on a chair, and pull ups. I haven't bought my pull up bar yet but one of the girls on the show was using the resistance bands and luckily I had one of those. I plan on working out with t he bands for the next week too and then attemp the pull ups after that. I can't believe I'm actually gonna try it. My legs are shaking and my back is so sore!!! I work my heart rate monitor and burned about 650 calories during the workout, not as much as Yoga, when it was 800 but still really good for one hour, phew, thank goodness it's over.

Wow, so you are doing P90 and Slim in 6. You are so dedicated! Man, that sounds really tough. How do you have enough energy to keep on going through the whole thing, phew! Kudos to you!

I'm really needing a rest day here soon. Tomorrow is Kenpo X and then after that i get to rest on Sunday. I definatly need it! I haven't excercised in forever and then all of a sudden I decide to pick it up by doing P90X, sometimes I don't have much sense. BUT I already started, and I am NOT quiting now.

Great job on the workout, I find waking up in the morning is so much easier for me then to do it in the evenings, way too much fun to be had. Well I'm off. Hope the rest of your day does excellent. Thanks for cheering me on. I know we can totally do this!!

Oh about the pics, I couldn't brink myself to take before pics but I guess I shoudl take them eventhough I already am five days it. I have some just regular pics but nothing really in workout clothes. I'll take some and post them along with 30s when I get there.

This is going to be so awesome!

                  Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Yeah, I find getting up in the morning much better for me. After my 6th day I plan to take a day off because Ive been wearing myself out.I also been walking 8 miles daily dont even ask I dont know how I do it with work, school and all.Yeah but I think that is a good idea on the pictures I could never bring myself to take pictures less long post them but by me doing these exercise I know that I will have a dramatic change soon. And I think that it will be cool to go ahead and take before and after pictures so we can see the transformation. Thanks for clarifying your workouts you are doing great. I need to purchase a heart rate monitor so I can monitor my calories burned daily. I ate a carb bowl this morning from Krystal and I plan to eat a salad for lunch and so far have drink 64 oz. water so I'm off to a good start already.Im doing the Independence Day Challenge my goal is to be 220 lbs. by then so thats why Im working so hard if I dont reach that goal I will be angry at myself and feel like I have failed myself. So thats why im so excited to be doing this exercises. We can do it!

                    Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

You are a machine woman! I don't know how you do it, I am totally impressed. It sounds like you are doing a lot but I'm sure you know what your doing. Just remember to take it a little slower on the days that you need to because you don't want to burn out from doing so much. I'm sure you have it all under control.

I'm not a member of the Independence Day Challenge but I do want to get down to my all time lowest weight by by birthday which is a little afte then, so it's good that we have common goals and deadlines.

I ate about 4 - 5 ounces of beef this morning, left over ribs from a bbq earlier this week. I know it's not typical breakfast food but definatly quick which was what I needed this morning. I have a lunch date today with my boyfriend and a good friend. We are meeting up at this little italian place called Pronto, but it's ok cause they have an awesome low carb dish. It's a chicken breast served over spinach with artichoke hearts and tomatoes, and the use a white wine sauce. Man that thing is so good. Can't wait.

Dont' know what I have in store tonite for dinner, I may actually have to stay up at work a little late tonite but hopefully I can get out of here at a decent time. I'll probably go out for dinner, my usual pattern for Friday nights. The only thing that worries me is that the weekends I tend to attribute with fun and in the past fun meant food. So now the weekend is here and I'm a little nervous of making it through without cheating. Oh man, I can do it. I know I can.
