    Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Great job on the excercise, sorry for not posting the last few days, school has been seriously kicking my butt! But I did get up early yesterday and start off my week of excercise. Last night I didn't go to bed until 2 and then woke up at 5 to finish a paper and a presentation that I had due today. I didn't excercise this morning but I hope to get it in tonite. I may not be able to though, I already feel the exhaustion starting to sink in.

Ok I have to run to a meeting here so I'll check back with you later.

Great job on the P90X ladies!

I just started phase III of P90X, so I'm around day 61. I started induction ten days ago to help get over a plataue. There are many of us doing P90X and vlogging on YouTube.

Here's my P90X results so far:

            Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Good morning! I feel so much better today. As I projected I went to sleep super early and didn't get my workout in. I felt bad about it but I woke up this morning and did my CardioX. It was a good workout, I felt strong during the excercise but I still got a great workout, sweating buckets! I'm going to try to rearrange my rest days so that I don't actually miss any days of excercise. I hope Tony understands and forgives me.

So excercise in for the day and I got a ton of sleep, I feel almost human again. I have an exam on Monday but I am starting to study for that today so I should get enough time to prepare.

I checked my heart rate monitor this morning after I finished working out and it says I burned 600 calories during the 50 minutes. Awesome, I know I was all wet, ewww, gross I know but I guess it's working.

Hope you have a great day today meckab, I'm sure you are kicking serious butt over there.

Indy - thanks for the post and the link, congrats on losing so much weight, that is such an accomplishment. I was really worried about starting P90X because I had heard that it wasn't a weight loss program, more strength and muscle building. I don't know if I have lost pounds or not but I definatly have shrunk some. Keep up the good work, you are totally rocking it!

no problem, there are a LOT of us using YouTube as a way to video log ourselves once a week to keep us accountable. We all subscribe to each others videos and do what you're doing here, providing support, encouragement and so forth.

I also think it helps ME being able to see the visual evidence that it's working, makes me push play because I see it working, even on days I'm burned out or busy with kid's activities, school, work, etc.

Great job on getting the excercise in Meckab, we are totally rocking it! I got up early this morning and worked out, I didn't want to and it was slow going but I definatly finished and pushed hard so hooray for me.

Indy - every time that I see those red letters on the video "Bring It" I do an internal groan. Those letter represent that to feel good about myself I have to push harder then I ever have and it is not easy.

I did core synergistics this morning, holy moly, I was dragging toward the end. I switched back to the Lean program and am sticking with it except that that means that I haven't done Core since week one. Man oh man, I forgot how hard it was. I did notice that I was much stronger then the first time I tried it though, I could actually get into plank with my feet up and do a few of the pushups without dropping to my knees. It was hard but I could tell that my form is much better. I can't wait to see where I am in my second month.

This is week three for me and I have been doing ok with excercise but I have really been screwing up with the food lately. I realize that I am only sabotaging myself so I am back at it once again. Sigh, I just pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again.

Indy - question for you about the P90X diet. Have you ever followed the P90X diet and how did that go for you. It's not terribly alien from the maintenance form of atkins but I was wondering if you did induction while taking on the X. Thanks for the input.

I'm off, working today and I am attending this workshop, I am seriously excited.

Also I skipped breakfast this mronign but on the way to work I bought grilled chicken strips from Jack in the Box and I am gonna eat those right now! starving!!!

Ahhhh! I just openned my little box of strips and found that instead of grilled chicken they gave me breaded instead!!! Grrrr.... THey have done this before a long time ago and I used to be vigilant about checking but it's been a while so i didn't think to look. Man!

I gave them away already and have settled on some cashews that I had at my desk. Darn! This situation really stinks!

I wouldn't call it a "weight-loss" program, per se. They do have their own eating program, which we are subbing for Atkins. The strength program will put a little weight on us because muscle weighs more than fat... BUT muscle also burns fat and keeps the metabolism up.

So we're doing the best thing we can possibly do, dumping fat and building good lean muscle to protect our bodies. Or as one of the girls on youtube says about P90X, "taking a trip to seXy town".

Ok you definitely have another member for the exercise challenge if you'll have me. I just started week #3 yesterday. So far it is going well. I went up 1 pound the first week and felt entirely uncoordinated in exercises like YogaX. Last week, I started to get the hang of it and follow most of the videos in step with them although I still am way short in the pushup and pullup category. With my running, the Plyo- and Legs exercises are the easiest. (or easier ) On the running note, I double up the non-AbRipperX days with 4-5 mile run so far with a longer run on Saturday.

I also lost a couple pounds in week #2, so we'll see if trend continues this week.

Yoly, every day Im getting better and now Im able to complete the entire workout. After my workout this morning I had a little time to spare so I decided to pull out the jump-rope that has been sitting in the closet collecting dust and man let me tell you between completing 90x, slim in 6, and jump rope 10 minutes I was wore out.Great job on completing you exercise today.I wish there was a Jack in The Box in my town I heard they have great food.

No, I never did start the P90X diet. I was having pretty good success with a low fat diet, eating Healthy Choice meals and watching the calories. After eating "right" and exercising, I hit the dreaded plateau and a few weeks ago decided Atkins would be a better choice. My boss had done Atkins a few years ago and recommended it, so he's like my personal coach.

As for Induction, Friday is day 14. So far I'm down 13 pounds and passed my dreaded 224 number, I number I've come to hate because I couldn't get passed it.

I figure I'll stick with induction for another couple of weeks to see how I do, but so far I've handled P90X just fine, numbers getting better every week.

Wow, our thread is really moving now, woohoo!

Kent - welcome to the challenge, you are really motivating to take it to the next level. You are doing P90X and running, sheesh. I feel like a wimp for just doing the X. I may have to add some extra cardio in the evenings or something just to keep up. I too am in week three on day three, so I have the rest of the week adn then I get a "recovery" week, full of Yoga, which I too have struggled with. LOL, you should have seen me the first week, my face was so red it was almost purple, lol. I always thought Yoga was supposed to be soothing and relaxing, but man I have never sweated as much in a workout, ever!

Meckab - Great job on the excercise, that is just awesome! I am so glad that you got through the whole thing and am absolutly increadulous (did I spell that ok?) that you could keep on going after both of those workouts, woman you are a machine!!! Everyone around here is doing more then their alloted, I really feel like I need to step it up to the next level. Hmmm, something to consider, maybe after finals are over next week.

Indy - thanks for the diet advice and congrats for breaking through your dreaded number!!! Woohoo! I really wish that I could stick to induction again. It is so hard the second time around. I remember the first time I did the diet I did induction to a T and I stuck to it for over 6 months! Now I can't even make it a full day, sheesh. Don't get me wrong I don't go eating donuts or anything but I will grab some low carb yogurt or something. Oh well, just trying to do the best I can with what I got.

As for my accountability: I did shoulders and arms today. I have been keeping a log of weights and reps which has proved really helpful. Last week I wrote notes like, weight too light and stuff. This week I really pushed it and used 10 pound weights for my shoulders. May sound kind of wimpy to you folks but that's a huge change for me, usually shoulders are around 5 pounds or so. 10 pounds on the biceps and 8 on the triceps, except for the chair dips. I have a wrist issue that flares up during those dips so I usually can't do the second set. As punishment I do reverse arm tricep kickbacks with 10 pound weights. Believe me that's major punishment for me! ouch!!!

So I finished up day 15 today, have to take on the Yoga tomorrow. Yikes! we'll see how it goes or maybe I should make Tony proud and say "it's going to be great, I'm gonna BRING IT" lol.
