    Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Hello fellow P90 and P90Xers. I am having a super hectic day over here, plus I have a huge headache, it has been really crazy.

I just wanted to quickly report that I did get in Yoga this morning, so hooray for me. Also I am going camping this weekend but will take my portable DVD player and videos so that I can squeeze in a workout tomorrow and Sunday. I know it's crazy but I don't want to mess up the program.

Anyway, I will be out of touch this weekend but I will check in as soon as I get back on Sunday.

Hope everyone is having a great time pushing PLAY.

        Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

I just made it through week #3. I posted another video on how I was doing, but mainly I beginning to feel sore/tired. As a result, some of my reps went down in things like the pullups. The real news of week 3 was how my taper affected my workouts. I didn't want to do the half marathon I ran last Saturday to come after legs and back and dead legs, so I took three days off from P90x.

I did well on the half mary (1:52:00) -- not my best by ten minutes, but given my commitments and knee issues earlier this year, I was just shooting for less than 2 hours. With the half marathon out of the way, I returned to P90x the following day. I did the missed arms and shoulders in the afternoon and then followed it with KenpoX in the late evening. By the end my traps were jello, but I completed the whole exercise. I finished the week by doing the missed Legs and Back exercise and another AbRipperX - 2 days in a row. (mistake)

So I missed both StretchX and YogaX, but going into Recovery week, I don't feel too bad about what I missed given other effort. My quick stats for week #2:
        • 2 pound lost from week 1 (1 pound overall) - Cautiously optimistic
        • 5 1/2″ lost last week - nearly 8″ lost since beginning
        • Body Fat Percentage dropped about 4% (dubious, but at least heading in the right direction)
        • Did all videos - missed 1 AbRipperX
        • I did 3 runs of 13.25 miles and biked nearly 6 miles
Week 3 will not feature any weightloss, but I will be checking my measurements later.

          Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Wow guys, you are really working it!

Meckab - great job on getting in excercise during finals, I know how stressful that can be, I just finished my last one yesterday. Thank goodness! It was a crazy one too, I sat there and wrote for 4 hours strait, no breaks or pauses. My hands and brain were acheing when I was done. I cried the whole way to the car, not because I was sad just because I was so exhausted from all the work that I had been doing. It was rough

Kent - great work on finishing up week 3, those are some amazing results. I haven't seen those types of results yet, but I'm not weighing or measureing until after my recovery week. I hope to have lost some inches but I know I haven't been doing that great with food so that may be a factor for me. Sigh, I need to get on the ball with that.

Ok, so I took my tapes with me but it ended up being a really crazy weekend and so I didn't work out on Saturday or Sunday. I confess that I am very dissapointed in myself. Sunday night I stayed up really late and yesterday I took my crazy 4 hour final, come home and fell asleep on my sofa before I could put in P90X. All in all, I confess that I did not excercise for 3 whole days!!! I can't believe it, ugh.

I decided to pick up right where I left off. I did legs and back today, some modifications for the pull ups because of a sore shoulder, but all in all the workout went really well. I have KenpoX tomorrow and then Wednesday I will start the recovery week.

I am committing to add some extra cardio after the recovery week. I'm thinking I need some Slim in 6, or some of the Slim Series a few days a week in the evenings to shred the fat faster.

So yes I am dissapointed in myself but I'm not perfect and I forgive myself and I am right back here ready to kick some serious P90X butt! Plus finals are over, so now that is one less thing that I need to stress about, with school being done I can eliminate that huge stressor from my life and really focus on taking care of myself.

              Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Good morning Tony Horton followers! I did Kenpo this morning, it was really fun and a great workout. And so eventhough last week was goofed up because of too many breaks and rest day, today marks the end of my 3rd week!!! So that is 18 workouts in and I am headed in to the recovery week.

Tomorrow I will be doing Yoga. I'm dreading it and looking forward to it too, I am really starting to get most of the moves down but it is still a challenge. We'll see how it goes.

                  Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Here are my results for week#3:
                  * No weight loss or gained (unless you count the 3 pounds post half marathon)
                  * Body Fat % went up 2 percent - probably a bit more accurate than last week (-4%); still down 2% overall
                  * More inches lost - one more inch lost in the waist (abdomen went up one though), I believe I lost a total of 3" total this week for 11.5" overall
                  * Missed YogaX and StretchX videos, but plowing into Recovery Week now

Overall still feeling good, but as I said above doing doubles with KenpoX and Shoulders was killers. I am altering perhaps my Cardio doubles a little - still running at least 4 times a week, but I am going to add basketball back into the schedule at least twice per week (max of 3 days per week). Basketball may have caused the tweaked knee earlier this year, but I am going to take it a bit easier on me (and the opposite team). I played my first game today and still shaking the rust off. I also gave platelets at the blood center, so I had to delay P90x for awhile this evening.

Well I am off to do core synergistics for the first time ever.... Wish me luck!

                    Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Kent - Yikes, Core Synergistics, all those superman and bananas and then chataranga run, holy cow! It's tough, but a great workout. Great job on the excercise, sounds like you are really doing a lot over there Kent. And a HUGE congrats on the inches lost, that is just awesome!!!

Indy - Should I be scared? Your making me very nervous over there.

Meckab - How are you doing girly? I'm sure you are kicking some serious P90 and Slim in 6. I still can't believe you are doing both, that is such a hard workout. Great job on getting it in.

As for me, today I was supposed to do Yoga, but I have been feeling bad about neglecting the waist work that I used to get in regularly with Debbie Siebers. So instead of Yoga I popped in Slim in 6, Burn it up and I did some serious work! I didn't do resistance training, as it is still my recovery week so when it was time for that I switched to the lower body workout tape and did another 20 minutes of legs. All in all I did 20 minutes of waist work and about 35 minutes of lower body. Its wierd though, cause eventhough I didn't work out upper body my shoulders, arms and back are really really sore and tired. Phew!

Tonite I plan on getting in the Yoga. I'm kind of nervous that I may have done too much, but I want to get it in today. If I feel completely trashed then I will do Yoga tomorrow morning and carry on with the recovery week.

So I'm off to get some work done. I'm so happy about how well everyone is doing. Great work!

                      Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

There was no chataranga run - not sure if it was due to giving blood earlier in the day, but the arms were especially tired last night. It was definitely a night to "forget the rest." I did what I could - the bananas and Superman's weren't too bad in comparison to the hill climbers for 2 minutes. Give me a day with healthy arms, and I might like the workout more.

Plus I hate missing the first 15-20 seconds just trying to figure out what they mean by pushup reach high, reach low, reach high thing. Or that lunge with weights flip back, press one.

Yoly - good luck tonight, but the good news you are doing YogaX. You can really alter the workout based upon what you are capable today. Do what you can and definitely forget the rest.

                        Re: Yoly's P90X challenge

Well I decided to skip out on Yoga last night after all. Not because I was being lazy I got my workout gear on but then I layed down on the sofa and was going to watch the news first, which I fell asleep through.

I woke up and rocked Yoga this morning. I can't believe how much easier the moves have gotten for me. I mean I used to dread all those warrior, 1s, 2s and reverse warriors. Now the moves seem so much easier and I can get much deeper in runner's pose. Don't get me wrong it's still a major workout. I was soaking wet by the time that I was done with the Vinasas but just much easier to go through the moves.

Tomorrow is Core Synergistics and I am dreading it a little bit, chattaranga run, grrr! I still have not been able to do that move but hopefully tomorrow will be the day. We shall see.

I hope everyone is doing great on their excercise. I felt really good this morning after I finished working out, almost like a sense of accomplishment and pride in my work. It was a really great feeling.

Food is much better for me lately. It took me a while but I have slowly made my way back to induction. I am staying away from places that I may be tempted to cheat on food and picking foods that I like and are atkins friendly. I can't really tell if I"m losing any but I definatly feel good about sticking to clean eating.

As for excercise I have had a hectic morning but will get it in around 2 or 3 this afternoon. I am taking my dog to the dog park and I'm supposed to go to a bbq this evening around 5 so that is the time slot I have for excercise. That way I have plenty of time to workout get me and abi ready and then head over to her house. I should be ok with the food there. I'm going to stop and buy a few things that I like to drink so I won't be tempted to grab a low carb beer or anything. Also food shouldn't be a problem, it's a bbq, meaning plenty of meat, lol.

Glad to see the excercise is getting easier for me it's great over here too.

I posted my Week 4 (day 27) video. The recovery week with its multiple YogaX has been a little slow on motivation and doing core synergistics after giving blood was a big mistake. This upcoming week I am going to re-up my effort to move back into that feeling of uncomfortability again. Getting simply sweaty is not enough. I need to push some of the boundaries this coming week.
