Re: Cool Running for the week of August 7, 2005
Nikki,
Great job getting out there!! Sometimes, just getting going is the hardest part! YAY YOU!
Hon, I would advise you to go slow slow slow, especially just starting out. Can you run on the level until your body gets used to the impact of running? Running slow and on the level will get you better conditioned to take on those hills! And running slow actually burns more fat! So its slower, stronger, longer for maximum results. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, it does work!
Never increase your distance more than 10% at a time in order to reduce the chance of injury. And definitely invest in some good running shoes with lots of cushioning if you are running on concrete or asphalt.
GREAT JOB!!
Betty

Thanks, guy for checking in!! We missed you here!
Rock On!!!! LOL @ calling them wimps!! Cry babies, and they call themselves runners!! It makes me think of when my dad said he was going for a jog around in the Rosebowl, he was so cool (he thought) that his jog was nothing more than a walk, all hoping up and down like he was doing something. Trying to pick up the ladies who thought he was a joke. Talk about embaressed

run on Sunday.
