Re: Cool Running for the week of August 14, 2005
Well, I spent all morning shopping for my running shoes (and of course I got distracted and shopped for everything else under the sun also). I tried on so many shoes and finally settled on some Nikes. For some reason they just felt so much better than all the others. And I got two new pairs of workout pants and a new top. I was very excited to fit into women's XL pants. I look like a runner now!
So, I came home, put on the new shoes and outfit and took off. I did my 5 minute warm up walk. Then for 25 minutes I alternated 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking. Then I walked for another 5 minutes at the end.
And I have to say...it was much easier than I thought it was going to be. 60 seconds of jogging is nothing! I guess I underestimated the shape I am in because I thought I would be huffing and puffing and falling over from a heart attack. But it was quite easy. Not that I'm ready for a marathon or anything, but it went well. So, I am quite psyched now!
