  • Sarahs Going For the GUSTO (marathon Training)

    Ok, so today is the first day of my training I wanted to be accountable to myself so this is a great way to do it and then others can keep tabs on how I am doing as well. Isn't this exciting.

    Well today is day 1 I ahve made it Half Marathon distance so the next month will be dedicated to breaking past the 13.1 miles and going further. this isn't gunna be easy and will be testing my, Endurance, My mind , and my Spirit and My whole Body. I am excited to see what I can accomplish for myself and I will be entering a Marathon come the spring time in I am thinking Edmonto I know people there so that will be excellent.

    Today is run day I ahve been Sick so I have had to cut back the time a bit. I do not go by milage I find it too stressful to myself so I am going for time instead.

    Run today 1 hour 10 minutes.

      WOOHOO did my 6 miles not a speed record but, hey it's not about speed it's about completing it so I finished my 6 miles in 68 minutes. WOW I felt good it was one of those days I could have ran and ran gotta love those. I am finding now that I have upped my milage that I am able to sustain faster speeds for longer which is soo excellent.

            SO today is 8 mile day, I put on my pedometer cause my treadmill distance is way off which I read is very common it's a really old treadmill. And also it's just takes the belt distance not your actual stride distance so not accurate at all.

            I am getting ready right now to get down and get busy. Hubby is home so it may be a bit later then usual which sucks I like to get it done earlt but, he didn't get home till 3 am so I will wait since I am considerate of his needs.

              I did great did my 8 miles in 1 hour 30 minutes and 20 seconds I am really impressed with myself it was a good run I upped the speed after 30 minutes I susally do that's when I get my energy surge then I gat another one about 65 minutes in so I up it more. It's pretty neat knowing my body is feeding on what energy I provide rather then on stocking it full of carbs to ahve a short burst then BAM lose it, then you gotta carb load agian. I don't need to do that I run on sheer ketons, lactic, acid and FAT ya BABY.

              Well I feel great legs are great and looking forward to the next run tomorrow 6 miles. YAY

                OK, legs, felt kick ***, but my Blister HOLLY cow owey. I guess I have to live with it and toughen up. Many runners are plagued with blisters I have read that they are any how. I really didn't have much problem till I really started upping my milage a lot. HMM darn it. What's a girl to do. I keep draining them and put meds on them so I don't end up with infection but man this sucks. My shoes are basically new but, my running stride could ahve changed or possibly my feet shrunk which could very well be. Darn it. I ahve been looking on ebay for new runners found some killer ones in my brandd that are 60 bucks cheaper but, a more expensive shoe then the one I have. I am thinking when I get some money I will get a pair. The I can break them in on my short runs and Garbage these ina about 1 month or so GOD I can't belive I go through shoes soo fast 3 months per pair craziness.

                So I ran my 6 miles in 66 minutes that is 3 minutes faster then Tuesday HORRAT FOR ME!!

                Tomorrow is rest day of sorts I'll be splitting wood all day and will probably be a wreck for Saturday.

                  Sarah, You're doing great! Nice job on knocking of 3 minutes in JUST TWO DAYS!!!

                  Hey, isn't the Edmonton Marathon in August? If you're already running 13 miles comfortable, you should probably be aiming for a marathon in the next 6 months. Any longer than that, I worry that you'll burn yourself out on the training. I know you said you want to do one in the spring -- is there another one that I'm not seeing?

                    There is one in August in Edmonto and I think one 1?2 in july or somehting I have to check that out.

                    I want to run a marathon in the next 6 but the weather here is so rotten till june Damn it. I mean it'll be snowing here very soon and there is no way I could run a marathon in the cold 6 months from now would put me to April and there is usually Snow flying till May sometimes the beginnig of June only once I've see that though so 6 months is too soon. I don't think I'll burn out so long as I take slow weeks along with my training.

                        Where exactly in Canada are you? You can PM me if you don't want everyone to know your specific town. I'm only asking because, as you know, DH is from Edmonton, but has family all over Alberta.

                          So today was a running day OFF yay I needed it but, I am too overly ambitious we have a ton of wood to cut for winter hubby is getting more so for my weight training instead of actually doing weights I swung a 6 pound axe for 1.5 hours More to come on that AAACKKK!! Oh, lord my whole body is really sore OUCH. But, hey I definately did somehting great WOOOHOO. I am loving this it's great having all this energy.

                          I put on my size 16 Jeans from back when and Holly crap they are so dog gone loose it's not even funny. They are hanging off of me. I can remeber wearing them in May and they were so tight I could hardly bend my leg in them WOOHOO.

                          It's one for me I just never realize how much I have lost till I get the old clothes out. Well, I look sloppy today but, it makes me feel good. ROFL.

                          4 miles tomorrow gunna run it first thing slow cause my 12 miles is on Sunday so gotta keep my strength.

                            So yesterday I did totally awesome I ran outside always love that nice and slow and I did this killer hill ran up the whole thing it rocked it was about 6 blocks long and I would say a 7% incline WOOHOO for me that was awesome when I got to the top I was baked but, I also felt like I had really got my running legs at that point and I just wanted to keep going.

                            My feet are taking a beating time for new socks some that whick moisture away from the feet I have also heard vaseline works I'll have to put some blister bandages on my feet till I can get me some new socks but, todays long run is gunna have to be put on hold.

                            I'll still run But, my feet just need a short run not a long one. I'll take this as a rest week or a low milage week and bump it back up next week to the 12 I'mm sure I will be great. I cna't risk my feet being a totalt wreck.

                            Well better go got a ton to do today.

                              SO this is the first Sunday run I have missed in over 3 months I am totally bummed. GRR. It's only 1 day and it's worth it to get my feet better YAY. I'll be having blister free feet ASAP I hope I am thinking of using vaseline on my arches have read that works my feet sweat a lot so maybe that will do the trick. I'll try anything once LOL. I am going to get new socks some that really hug my feet and don't move I think that will help like a second skin.
