Yes 2big, I'm collecting donations for it..I officiall signed up! it's quite neat actually, you get your own page for donations so you can just send the link out to people and they can donate online. I have a couple of coworkers that I sponser every year for an MS bikathon (200kms!!!!), so I know i'll get sponsers from them for sure. I've always hated asking people for $$ even though it's for such a good cause..i'm just not good at it so this online thing is perfect for me!

So i'm officially registered..no backing out now

Drove up to the cottage today so no run for me..I will run up here tomorrow..this is the hardest run..it's very hilly..will be good practice for the 17th.

For anyone that doesn't know who Terry fox was:

Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and raised in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, a community near Vancouver on Canada's west coast. An active teenager involved in many sports, Terry was only 18 years old when he was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) and forced to have his right leg amputated 15 centimetres (six inches) above the knee in 1977. While in hospital, Terry was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients, many of them young children, that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

He would call his journey the Marathon of Hope.

After 18 months and running over 5,000 kilometres (3,107 miles) to prepare, Terry started his run in St. John’s, Newfoundland on April 12, 1980 with little fanfare. Although it was difficult to garner attention in the beginning, enthusiasm soon grew, and the money collected along his route began to mount. He ran 42 kilometres (26 miles) a day through Canada's Atlantic provinces, Quebec and Ontario.

It was a journey that Canadians never forgot.

However, on September 1st, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles), Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario because cancer had appeared in his lungs. An entire nation was stunned and saddened. Terry passed away on June 28, 1981 at age 22.

The heroic Canadian was gone, but his legacy was just beginning.

To date, more than $400 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry's name through the annual Terry Fox Run, held across Canada and around the world.

Hadn't heard about Terry Fox before. A real hero. What a wonderful legacy he left behind.
Thanks for posting this Sadie. Hope you enjoy the run on Sept 12.

I swear you can hear the grass growing right now. Maybe I will not use the muching blade so I don't fertilize the grass when I mow it this time.

Hey ladies, glad to see you Sadie, Sally and 2big. Sadie, that run sounds awesome, good for you. Sally, glad you could pop in, I remember you are swamped this time of year 2big, thanks as always for your constancy.

It's been a terribly stressful week, made all the more stressful because it SHOULDN'T have been. I was looking forward to a breather after our weekend w/MIL a couple weeks back. Nope. Right between the eyes. Ugh.

But hopefully on the upswing now. I got my cardio in for the first time in ages, and I have been keeping up my 5min lunge-squat-pop routine every day too. Today I also worked up a sweat trying on clothes. 5 stores in 5 hours baby!

Consistently a size 4 pant, size 6 jean. Somebody slap me!

Hope to be around some next week, I miss you guys!!!

                Hugs
                Denise
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

Awwww Denise... isn't it a bummer when you expect a nice easy time and things turn out differently! Maybe it'll be the opposite next week. Hang in there!

Missed both dog walk and exercise today, but worked hard all morning at the house (tenant changeover). Also feel I made up for it yesterday when on top of the very early walk/exercise I then went on to do hard physical labour (no other term for it ) from eight in the morning to eight at night less twenty mins for lunch (all legal, of course). By the time I'd cooked dinner after all that, and finally slumped down in front of the TV at around ten, I was asleep in two mins!

Looking forward to a leisurely Sunday. Hope I don't catch Denise's bug though!

LOL Sally heavy physical labor is a great exercise. I did mine yesterday in the gym and then again in the yard.

Good toi see you are there Jimmie Jo when folk fail to post exercise of a period of time it usually means they let life interfer with thier exercise time and stopped. good to see your ctower climbs are still moving along there.

I hadn't thought of it actually! I just tried to put it in there but unfortunately you have to register by full name, and you need the runners name to donate, and I'm not too crazy about posting it on the web..so I put a pm line in my signature..just in case.

The weather has cooled down nicely here lately...so that should give me nice weather to run in.

Hubby and I have too many commitments this week, but are going back to the gym next week..so I can get back on track with my stairclimbing.
