  • Re: The Goalie's Challenge Exercise Thread

Hiya girls. No rain here today.

Had a pedicure, a margarita and karaoke w/a girlfriend tonight. Not all together No official exercise, but hoofed it 4 blocks to park downtown at lunch Each way. I do realize it's not REAL exercise...but it's an active person mentality, and sometimes for this mom, that's as good as it's going to get.

Just wish it wouldn't have been the same day as the margaritas

Hope all is well w/the rest of you.

Spent some time in the main forum tonight.... . Crazy.

    Hugs
    Denise

oooooo margarita's, I'm still far too carbphobic to ever dare go there (though i did have 3 bites of a donut a couple of months ago ) My cousin's wife makes wiked margarita's all the time up at the cottage and i always pass and just have my Mike's Light's .

Didn't run today, did pilates and a good long walk with the dog, even talked hubby into joining me! he doesn't walk anywhere LOL. he's in great shape, lifts weights..but does zero cardio..i'm trying to change that.

Will do one more run tomorrow, and then i'll take saturday off for my Terry Fox run sunday. I've raised $330 which is way more than I expected!

Oh i'm in a rainy place too..has rained steady for 3 days now..but supposed to be sunny and in the 80's for the weekend...wish it was going to be a bit cooler for the run....

did my gym and cardio and 1/2 a yard of mowing will be doing the jungle in the back tomorrow. I need to trimn some trees too so it will be an all out yard day after HIITing.

          Thinking of you tomorrow Sadie!

Nothing official today either, DH wanted to watch season premieres during my workout time, and after that long on the couch, I'm not getting upto exercise. We've still got nice weather, I know it will be an active weekend

          Night all.

2big, why do you suppose raisins are listed with fewer carbs than grapes? Can sugars be dehydrated away?

where did you see that and are they comparing the same amount of grapes to raisins by weight? grapes mave much less carbs then raising but raisins because they don't have the water weight will have more nutrients for the same amount. I've looked at both the European grapes which we call table grapes and the native grapes like muscidines and rasins a much higher on the my sites

I just used fitday, but not by weight, by unit. 10 grapes = 9 carbs, 10 raisins = 4 carbs. I hoped your scientific mind could explain why they would be different either way? 10 raisins used to be 10 grapes...the sugars have a more concentrated flavor, but per skin can't actually BE more, right? But would it be less since they ARE dehydrated? No water weight? We hear that all the juice the kids drink, even 100% juice, is truly 100% sugar.

                      Thoughts?

PS I truly did count them out, I'm a freak. It was a still a better choice than the chocolate chips I wanted

remember size counts too if you take 10 big grapes and 10 small grapes they willhave different carb amounts so you really can't compare them in that manner.

the grape skin on the rasin keeps all the sugar inside during the drying process so they don't lose any that way. you could rehydrate them and see how big they are and compare them by weight to see what is going on but I'm betting your raisin grapes are small grapes not the table grape size.

ben to the gym today and now I'm going to be working on the mulch pile transferring it little by little to cover the new paths in Mothers gardens before she changes hse mind again because more garden space covered by pathways the easier it is to weed and the less total gardening work

Well I finally got thru my terry fox run yesterday! I kept waking up in the middle of the night the night before, i kept dreaming that i'd already run it LOL. Well it started at 9, was a nice cool morning. I wish i'd brought my camera, I did the run in Minden, the small town (pop 1200) where my cottage is near, so it was a beautiful, misty country morning. The route was down a country road, that was all farms and runs alongside a river, so the scenery was nice. It was an out and back run (rather than a run in a circle pattern), so you were able to do the 5k or 10k. Unfortunately I didn't manage 10, I had a feeling i wouldn't, i wasn't able to in my practice runs, but I did manage about 6/7! Not sure what my time was, I forgot to bring my watch . Since it's not a race, they don't time you.

My legs are a little stiff this a.m....but I raised a total of $420 which makes it all worth it!

I got a certificate that gets stamped for participation every year..so I think I will be making this an annual event and see how many stamps i can get. My hubby is even going to join me (on a bicycle) next year .
