        Re: Mission Chicago

Good for you for continuing your running! I always wanted to do the Chicago marathon. I was on cross country and track in high school and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. My brother ran the marathon last year. Some time I will get there, too!

        Keep up the good work!

Didn't get out until dark. Had to get out the reflective gear. It's been a while since I ran so late. It was nice and cool. 4 miles in.

Ran real hard yesterday. Backed it off substantially today and took it nice and easy. 4 miles in.

3 miles in. Trail half is tomorrow. Lots of hills running through the woods. Should be challenging.

Ran the Trail Half Marathon today. Finished in 2:28:53. Only 8 minutes off the pace for the last half marathon I ran on flat ground. Ran real conservatively through the first 10 miles, then picked up the pace considerably for the last 5k or so. Weather was cool at the start and then low 60s at the finish.

Running the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati next Sunday.

                    Re: Mission Chicago

4 miles in. Real light schedule this week leading up to the marathon on Sunday. Weather in Cincinnati is showing a starting race temperature of 56 degrees with a high of 82 for the day. I would prefer 15 to 20 degrees cooler, but I don't have much control over that.

3 miles in. Picked up the pace and ran at about 8:20 or so pace. Will take Thursday's run real easy in preparation for the marathon on Sunday.

                          Re: Mission Chicago

Kinda got away from posting here. Had a very successful Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati. Finished in 4:36 having ran the full distance and even finished with a "sprint" at the finish. Took Monday thru Wednesday off before running 3 miles on Thursday.

Ran 13 miles today (Saturday). Pulled ahead tomorrow's run so I can be a good Mother's Day host.

Need to find another race to do. Nothing really planned until the Crim Festival of Races at the end of August. That's way too long to wait. Haven't done a 5k in a long time. I'd be interested to see what I could finish it in.

Back to a regular week of runs after the marathon. Long run this weekend will be 14 miles. Will be up to 32 miles this week. Will be slowly building up miles to a peak of 50 miles per week around mid-September.

4 miles in at about 10 minute per mile pace. Heart rate average was in the 120s. Lots of progress from a couple of months back. Need to stay on task and hit all the runs through the upcoming summer months. Should have a chance at that sub 4:30 marathon in October.
