11 miles in. It was a combination of all 3 mid week runs. Just a 5 miler left to fit in some time during this "NASCAR" weekend.

Back again to a regular schedule this week. 6 miles on Tuesday and then 3 miles today. Long run is just 10 miles this week.

Pulled the Saturday run ahead, 6 miles, because I'm going in to work tomorrow for the day and then going to a graduation party.

Still plugging away. The weather is getting hotter and hotter. Enjoy fall running the best. Temps in the 40s is perfect. Oh well. All in all, getting faster and staying injury free. 6 miles in today after getting 10 in yesterday.

3 miles in. Pretty sore all over from the gym workout yesterday. Clothes seem to be fitting a little looser. Hopefully the scale is moving again. It's been about 4 to 5 weeks since I've lost anything there.

I've been slacking off some getting to this thread. Haven't missed any runs and the running is going real well. Definitely on target for all the running goals for the Chicago Marathon. Just ran a 20k (12.4 miles) at an 8:41 pace. Looking at 10 minutes per mile or a 4:20 finish for Chicago.

                      Tuesday: 7 miles
                      Wednesday: 10 miles.

8 miles in. Hot and humid. Yuck.

Only 10 weeks til the marathon. Healthy and injury free. Times are getting better. Just need to make it through the long runs in the heat.

Ok, it's official. I am registered to run the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2007.

                          My goals are as follows:
                          1. Be on Atkins and closing in on goal weight by October 7th.
                          2. Post here and in the Cool Running thread for accountability.
                          3. No taking sheduled running days off for "laziness" or any other EXCUSE.
                          4. Make a run at 4 hour marathon.

Regarding #4, obviously I would be happy with getting to the finish line. I have run 2 prior marathons. Detroit in '05 in 4:48, then Marine Corps Marathon in DC in '06 in 5:12. For both marathons, I weighed in the 220s.

Please bring out the whip if you see me AWOL for more than 2 days.

I have been slacking off on keeping up with this thread. I thought I would go back and evaluate where I am with the goals I set forth.

                          1. Definitely still on Atkins. Definitely been some bumps along the way. But, unlike the past when I would have thrown in the towel, I've bounced back and am holding on around 175 pounds. I'll probably get to close to 170 for marathon. That will be a success considering I ran the Marine Corps Marathon at 225 pounds.

                          2. I have religiously posted all my runs in the Cool Running thread and most of them here as well. I definitely feel accountable.

                          3. No unscheduled days off since January 7th. Dedicated/Obsessed.

                          4. I set this goal right after having run a 5:11 marathon. From there, an hour and 11 minute improvement is a ridiculous reach. However, the MacMillan race calculator site predicts a 4:06 marathon based on the results of yesterday's 30k. I think that's a bit optomistic. However, I'm thinking that a 4:15 or so finish is real reasonable. Maybe with great conditions, closer to 4:10. At any rate, that would be an hour improvement over a year earlier.

Overall, I've done well in keeping to these goals. Not perfect, but it's trying to be perfect is what has derailed me in the past.
