I received this in an email, anyone try any of these and found them to work?

    Tape this inside medicine cabinet

Did You Know That? Drinking two glasses of
Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately -- without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional "pain relievers."

    Did you know that
Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong
Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

Achy muscles from a bout of the flu?
Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles.

    Sore throat?
Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

    Cure urinary tract infections with
Alka-Seltzer . Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly -- even though the product was never advertised for this use. ( Note : Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine is not the same..and contains aspirin, which can cause stomach bleeding if you have ulcers.)

    Honey

    Coca-Cola

Clea ning liquid that doubles as bug killer
... If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409 . Insects drop to the ground instantly.

    Smart splinter remover
...just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue.

    Hunt's
tomato paste boil cure ....cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head.

    Balm for broken blisters
...To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine ... a powerful antiseptic.

    Heinz
vinegar to ! heal bruises ... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.

    Kills fleas instantly
. Dawn dish washing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath! and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas.

Rainy day cure for dog odor

    Eliminate ear mites
... All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear. Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing.

    Quaker Oats
for fast pain relief ....It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Interesting. My dd has used the nail polish trick on her glasses. It seemed to work for a while.

I want to try the dryer sheet on my dog. He's very fluffy. I bet he'd be springtime fresh and wouldn't have static cling either.

I've done the glue and splinter thing before.. it works.

The 409 thing for bugs.. I use 409 all the time to zap flies in the kitchen when the kids leave the screen door open. I don't know if it kills them quicker than say lysol or something but it kills them.

The Altoids thing makes sense.. they're pretty strong and if you chewed a few of them. Yikes!

I use Honey as a masque for my skin. It helps to exfoliate and it really moisturizes.

Actually, I never seem to have bug killer handy when I need it so I often zap them with whatever's at hand - windex, household cleaner, hair spray....the hair spray works well - their wings stick together and they fall down. I don't know that these things kill them, but they stop them for a sec so you can kill them (or take them gently outside and place them on a leaf - whatever floats your boat).

LOL, have you been peeking in my windows again? LOL

I know that aerosol hairspray does work pretty good at taking ink stains out of clothing! I've tried that several times.

To freshen your drains, especially if you have a garbage disposal, dump in some baking soda and then pour a little vinegar in, it bubbles like crazy! Let it sit for a while and then wash it all down.

Listerine....when I was in college, we would get these "welcome to the dorm" package that contained a small bottle of Listerine, a small box of tampons, etc. Anyhow, I ran out of my facial toner/astrigent once, so I mixed some of that Listerine with water, used it and lo and behold, it worked better than and was cheaper than the toner/astrigent I was using. (Kept pimples away like a charm!)

Any toothpaste will remove the tarnish off sterling silver. Just wet the silver, and rub a dab of the toothpaste on it, rinse and dry.

                          Re: Home Remedies

Jerry Baker has published volumes of these type remedies, and I've seen them many other places as well. The origins of the science behind why they work are often our grand- and great - grandmothers, who used common household ingredients for many tasks. Knowledge of these can get lost behind the gamut of specially labelled products sold exclusively for every task imaginable. Yet they still work!

I think the email which takes the general remedy and slaps a brand name onto it, as if it alone will do the trick and masking over the actual remedy at work, is undoubedly the product of someone out for a profit from sposoring marketers.

                              Re: Home Remedies

MoG the best silver cleaner home remedy is one from Haley's Hints. Dissolve some laundry water softener in warm water, put it in a dish with a strip of aluminum foil on the bottom. Then put the silver piece on the aluminum foil----no more tarnish. Then rinse and dry. I have some sterline silver earrings that I do this to and it works very well. But I wouldn't use it on jewelry that has stones in it.

Oh yeah, and my favorite because it's saved me from tossing out clothes: hair spray removes ink stains. I usually keep an inexpensive bottle of hairspray in my desk at the office just in case. Spray the hair spray on the ink stain. Rub in, then rinse in water. Apply more spray to remove the stain. Then rinse and wash as usual.
