Isn't borax the main ingredient in ant/roach bait?

      Re: Home Remedies

I hang all of my work clothes to dry, and it's been so humid in the garage (where my laundry room is) that stuff was staying damp for days and getting musty. I wish I had someplace outside to dry my clothes.

Great stuff isn't it! I have the same problem with musty smells when I can't hang things outside I have to hang them in my basement which is where my washer and dryer are so I know what you mean!

Anyone got any tips for how to remove grease stains - once the item has already been washed and dried.

MOG, I tried the orange stuff JimmieJo talked about, and it worked. My shirt and been washed and dried with the grease stain, and it still came out! What kinda fabric is it? I used a warm water wash, and hung it to dry. My shirt was a cotton blend.

Cotton, t-shirt like material. It seems I get grease spots on just about every shirt I own somehow. I think its the big boobs getting in the way!

Me too MOG. Me too. That orange stuff really worked. Also, you can try Lestoil, but I haven't been able to find any lately. It smells nasty too, so when you use Lestoil you've gotta triple wash your laundry afterward to get rid of the funky chemical smell, but it's really great for grease stains.

I'll look for the "Fast Orange Hand Cleaner" first I guess. I wonder where I could find it? I don't want to have to triple wash anything! LOL our water and electric bills are already high enough!

Products like you mentioned, plus Goop & Sun Magic are good, or you could try (depending on the fabric) using solvents on the already set oil/grease stain. Get remainer off after that with detergent in hot water.

Hmm, do you know a brand name for a grease solvent? or are they just named "grease solvent"? Where would you buy that?

mog, you use to be able to get the fast orange at walmart. i am not sure if they still carry it or not. do not get the pump stuff. you want the gritty stuff that comes in a round plastic container, like the size of country crock spread. if walmart doesn't have it, the auto parts store, daps, autozone, napa, any of them should have it.

It helps to know the specific type of oil or grease if you want a specific product, such as yuo see on a site like http://www.p2pays.org/ref/09/08525.htm. Grease can range in description to oils from cooking to the stuff under a car chassis.

I tend to just try household staples such as acetone, alcohol, paint thinner, or Goof Off®.
                                .
